Our good friend Drizzy has been hard at work converting the DROID Android 2.1 ROM over to the HTC Dream / T-Mobile G1 and his dedication has paid off.
The DROID ROM is fully functional on his G1 and below is the first screen shot shown to the public. Drizzy is still working to fix a few minor problems and tweak a few mores things, but as soon as he has a stable release you’ll see it here on AndroidSPIN.
Head over to Drizzy’s forum for more screen shots and to chat about this upcoming release or just ask drizzy some questions. Don’t bug him too much though, we want his focus on the ROM.

OK, that maybe an exaggeration, but it sure is a long time. I'm also an avid Home Theater geek and self appointed installer for friends and relatives. My first serious modding of Smart-Phones started with my T-Mobile WING and now Android devices. I'm also a bit of a photographer, although Android has kind of taken over my life and photography has taken a back seat.

Well, We already heard rumors that Android 2.0 or above will be released for the G1 so that would indicate the new drivers do exist. Everything get’s leaked eventually and some of our developers are very resourceful people.
Conclusion: It’s not implausible that the drivers wont be in a ROM sometime soon so having a working camera is not out of the question.

Wouldn’t this be Eclair-based (android 2.0.1) instead of Flan? Currently the Nexus One dump is the only Flan Android2.1 Rom the community has, isn’t it?

Drizzy informed me that he had worked some magic and combined various things and the base ROM is Android 2.1. He also said he had to install some Android 2.0.1 components to get things working.
So maybe the core is from the Nexus One, but I can’t confirm anything 100%. Let’s wait for Drizzy to release or ask him your questions in the forum at:
