The German Mozilla Community Website camp-firefox.de reported that a first beta version of Firefox for Android (Fennec) would be coming out in February 2010. Apparently most of the work has been done and the application was started sucessfully on an Android phone, even though surfing was not possible yet.

After some investigation I found out that those Germans might be on to something. The Mozilla Labs website announced a Labs Night meeting for today and one of the speakers, Jay Sullivan, VP Mobile at Mozilla will talk about their Mobile strategy and show off some cool demos, including their upcoming version of Firefox for mobile devices.

With the myriad of Android devices coming out in 2010, Mozilla better step up their efforts and not miss the boat.
