Don’t worry all of you disgruntled iPhone users…here comes Nexus to the rescue, maybe…

Our friends at Engadget may be on to something…
The photo above shows two very similar but slightly different labels. And when I say slightly different, I mean off by a mere one digit. The label on the right is from a current Nexus One and the one on the left was spotted passing thru the FCC (they always get the good stuff first). The one on the left is for a device with FCC ID NM899110. The current Nexus One has ID NM899100. Upon looking a little further into the RF reports, you can see that the device in the photo from the FCC supports 3G on WCDMA Bands I, II, and V, which are AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus and pretty much all of Europe bands. With the two IDs being so similar, we can only assume that the FCC labeled device is most likely a variant of the current Nexus One and soon iPhone users will get a taste of how a real OS should perform.
Don’t let us down, Google. Spread the Android joy.

That just means if you buy a full priced phone from Google and slide your AT&T or Rogers sim card into it, it will work….. doesn’t mean AT&T agreed to back the phone. Just means Google is smart and knows if they want to get customers in all markets they don’t do anything stupid like be exclusive to only one set of frequencies. It is the real genius behind the business model Google came up with. Sell the phone not the service and let the user decide which company they want to use the phone on, period.
Considering it is just an image from the FCC right now all we can do is speculate. Whether AT&T decides to back the phone or not is irrelevant at this point. If it runs on their bands, their subscribers can take advantage of the device. That’s what was meant by saying the Nexus is coming to AT&T. Because really, what’s a network without it’s subscribers. Their customers ARE their network.
And yes, Google deserves a gold star for their business model.
As luck would have it, Telecom XT in New Zealand is a match for AT&T’s UMTS frequncies and Vodafone is a match for T-Mobile……though BOTH do UMTS 2100. A Nexus One that does 850 would be most welcome.
could this been the vodaphone or verison nexus? i know there is a sim but goolge did intend to make the phone where almost anyone can use it have they changed the specs where it can support att 3g network cause currently it doesn’t
