Hm, it was available here before. Maybe some other carrier did hop on board, but at least O2 (Telefonica) had it for some time.
Note that in Germany the “price” of the mobile does mean nothing. Our contract market does offer anything from 0% subvention for the hardware up to (almost) full subvention. You pay the real price with your monthly fees, but that’s hardly news.

It has been on O2 Germany long before now – I bought mine off the german e-bay in late August 2009. In fact I believe Germany was the second country after France (early July 2009) to introduce the Galaxy.
