The guys over on the Nexus One Blog have a released a video unboxing and review of the new Google Nexus One Desktop Dock. Short and sweet but to the point the video highlights the initial issues found and how to fix them.
Worth the $50 for this little puppy? Maybe! It doesn’t look like much for your money but it does act a Bluetooth link to play your music too.
No real mention of the weight and build quality in the video! If you’ve get one of these docks, please let know your thoughts in the comments.

Things that can be improved.
1. Can only choose to play music alarms notifications through dock or phone all or nothing. I would like music playing through dock but alarms through phone as stereo will not be left on. there should be seperate check boxes.
2. Dimmer button in upper right so if you push too hard it pops off dock. Should be in lower right as you have base of dock to prevent from poping off with pressure of touch.

It’s small and cool looking. I like how it defaults to only playing the audio when it’s actually docked, rather than just pairing when you’re close to the dock. I was worried that it would be fighting with my bluetooth headphones.
Things I’d like to change:
1. I listen to mostly podcasts (via BeyondPod) and Pandora on my phone, which don’t use the built-in media player. So, the shortcut on the clock app doesn’t do anything for me. I’d like to disable the clock app or customize its buttons, or just change which app loads when the phone is docked.
2. It doesn’t really handle incoming calls gracefully while docked. If you answer the phone without undocking, it will not default to speakerphone. If you DO turn on speakerphone, it seems to switch back to the phone speaker, which is not what I was expecting.

My major issue is that it is far to easy for the phone to slip out of the dock. I also wish that I could totally turn the backlight off when the phone is in the dock, but that’s a software issue.
