Flash 10.1 to be supported on select devices

by Jolie Gendel on 28th Feb 2010 -

Not all current generation phones will be able to use Flash 10.1 for Android once it is released in the next few months, but we had a suspicion that would be the case.  Though Flash has been seen working as a prototype on the G1 and had some support on the Hero, an Adobe forums post reveals that not all Android phone models will be supported. In response to a question about Adobe’s roadmap, an Adobe employee stated that Flash would begin appearing on Android phones “mid-year.” That employee also dropped this bombshell: “The HTC Hero will not be supported [because] it does not have ...

More Shots of Firefox Mobile Surface

by Ray Poole on 27th Feb 2010 -

As we all know, Mozilla has been diligently working on bringing Firefox (or Fennec as it's known on the Mobile OS's) to the Android Operating System. Two new pictures have surfaced at the Firefox for Mobile Facebook Page of both the Droid (pictured below), and Nexus One (pictured above), Android's current hottest phones; running Fennec. According to one of the developers who commented back to the Facebook users, they are still working and testing big time on the browser and that we should stay tuned. I can only help but feel with the speed at which the Mozilla team is ...

The Android revolution

by Jolie Gendel on 27th Feb 2010 -

We've all experienced it at one time or another. First the shock, then disbelief quickly moving to annoyance and possibly anger. Then the sad resignation. I'm talking about Android discrimination. Lack of Android acceptance seems to be everywhere I look, from public transit apps, to specialized products, to services.  The mobile edition of the Toronto Star is called the iPhone edition. Want to play with a NASA lunar rover? Sorry, iPhone only. Even our beloved Nook, a device that runs on a version of Android isn't available to the Android mobile-toting masses. Why is there so little Android love? Let's consider the ...

Enomther’s TheOfficial Nexus1 v1.6.1 Exposed

by Simon Walker on 27th Feb 2010 -

While Enomther's ROMs have many advanced features built in, not all of them are activated when you first install the ROM. Instead, Enomther gives the user the choice of controlling these options themselves. Many of the different options are now controlled using the Spareparts application. On Enomther's previous ROMs there was a utility called ExpSetup you could run from the Terminal prompt that allowed you to customize your ROM. The new approach is much more user friendly and will only get better as Enonther is going to incorporate a full GUI explicitly for customizing his ROMs. As ...

The Android 1.6 update (DMD64) OTA is rolling out starting today, February 26th, and will gradually make it to the masses by March 15th. The update improves G1 user’s call performance and does not include any additional feature enhancements. To receive the update, G1 owners must have the required Android data plan added. G1 owners will receive a notification on ...
