AT&T is officially in the game. They’ve already announced that they plan to launch at least 5 Android smartphones (no official word on which phones yet but we know they’ll be from Dell, HTC and Motorola) and now they’re going after Android developers.
According to Android and Me, AT&T is sponsoring an application contest for CTIA in March for Android developers. It’s the Open Call – Apps for All! contest and it promises huge prizes. Which, once you win, you will proceed to buy me something pretty and expensive. Mmkay? 
It’s divided into four categories: Brew Mobile Platform (BMP), Android, Java & RIM, and an “Open” category reviewing applications and content of all platforms. AT&T is awarding $40,000 in prizes- $10,000 per category winner (remember, pretty and expensive) AND recognition.

Continuing its commitment to openness and innovation, AT&T today announced the fifth annual “Open Call – Apps For All!” contest, taking place at the CTIA Wireless convention in Las Vegas March 23-24. Designed to identify the country’s most innovative wireless applications, the “Open Call – Apps For All!” contest is an evolution of AT&T’s Fast-Pitch contest held at CTIA for the past four years.
