I’m a huge supporter of opensource and android, but this openeclair project is killing the expectation of this idea ever working. I was able to get the 1st version 1.0 working, then all the other updates have been a bust. STOP USING THE TERM ‘STABLE’, its anything but stable this should be ALPHA. I don’t think you realize what happens when people install this expecting to get past the installer without bombing. I personally got to the point where I went back and installed SuperD v1.8, and I’m not touching it. I really hope you get this figured out, because you are making the community look bad. My respects and appreciation to all those hard working developers and modders out there. Good luck to us all.

I don’t see the word “Stable” anywhere in my post.
The devs have been using the “STABLE” tag in the OpenEclair releases.
I believe that’s what igpf is pointing out. Not your post.
I really think that the current OpenEclair 1.1.5 should really be called:
OpenEclair-1.0.RC5 ALPHA
You just don’t “jump” unstable releases around by tagging them with higher numbers. This is *NOT* a correct software development practice.
Honestly in my opinion I feel you both are right. I have yet to use the rom itself since I use my Nexus One now, but I feel that jumping in and using Stable isn’t something that should be done yet.
I’m sure these guys can produce great work, especially if more developers jump on board; but soon enough they will eventually hit a true stable build. That’s just not right now.

I agree it’s not very fast but I have faith with all the great devs working it well be a great ROM. Can’t wait for other updates to come out.

I had it reboot in the middle of a boot. Other than that it has been VERY stable for me. It even works with the camera (1.1.4 didn’t). Running it under moderate usage for a few hours and various apps and only had one FC. Way to go!

I’ve more or less given up on the Eclairs until the video camera and YouTube work properly. I use both all the time. For now, Fasttest (Donut) with the 780MHz patch gives me a fully-functional Android *and* incredible speed.
