Its been a while since the last Customization Corner but this is a good one. Do you want a nexus one but stuck in a contract? Well this issue we will be making your G1/MYT3G look and fell like a Nexus One.

Requirements:

  • Rooted G1/MyTouch3G
  • Knowledge of how to flash ROM’s

This can be done in 3 asy steps:

1. Dowload and flash open eclair (There are other eclair roms this is just the one i know more :D )

Download Page

2. When the ROM boots and your done setup it will ask you if you want to use “Home” or “Launcher” choose Launcher.

3. Enjoy your new Nexus One.

Haha, is this for real? I can only imagine how slow live wallpapers are on the G1.

Guys… I really love the site and what you do for the community but you need to work on your contributer-base.. a) This is not really news since OE has been around for some time now and b) Ben and the Open Team have been indicating that the newest version of OE is right around the bend… why would you encourage people to flash a version of a ROM that is about to be outdated within the coming 36 hours???

  22. Just tried all the different kernel versions with and without the RamHack in OE 1.2.2 and it is extremely laggy on most of them. The fastest out of all 4 i think is BFS Without Ram hack on my MT3G…Wish it was faster, they have some nice eye candy in there..

Alternatively, you can use Cannon’s Complete Eclair. It’s far more smoother than OpenEclair in my opinion.

OpenEclair is not the smoothest 2.1 ROM to me honestly. i applaud your loyalty to this group venture but it lacks the draw of say KingKlicks ASOP 2.1 ROM(Dark Theme) and the Complete Eclair ROM. For the people who are going to try this out, you have other options…

Have been trying it. Was fine, and fast, but whenever I try to go to settings, it force closes. Same with widgets. Oh, and there is no contacts app, and no market app. #Fail

I am trying OE-1.3.0.1. It seemed very lagy, but then I enabled Compache and Swap. What a BIG difference! :) I am over joyed. THANKS DEVs for all your hard work.
