Microsoft just release application that reads tags (sorry no QR Codes) for Android, it was already available for WinMobile, iPhone, BlackBerry and Symbian.

Microsoft Tag lets you discover information and entertainment by scanning mobile barcodes with your phone. Download the Tag Reader, scan a Tag anywhere you see one – in a magazine, brochure, on product packages, signs or storefronts – and access information videos, promotions, exclusive offers and much more.

This is hopefully just the start of the Microsoft Android apps. We will update this post once we have tried the app.

Have you tried Microsoft’s Tag Reader? Tell us what you think of it in the comment section.

  4. I’ve never seen one of these MS tags. What are they used for and who uses them?

I’m mainly a linux user though I do have one Windows Vista PC. But I don’t usually buy any Windows apps. I use Vista for compatibility with old Windows apps I bought before moving to linux.
