Some people who own a G1 on the TMobile network may notice a update, here’s what a TMobile Rep had to say:
We are aware some T-Mobile G1 and T-Mobile myTouch 3G customers have received an over-the-air update. It was sent to a small, controlled pilot and is not yet available to all customers. The update (DMD64) is intended to improve the phone’s call performance and is NOT Éclair.
We will post updates to these Forums with more information when the software upgrade is available to all T-Mobile G1 and T-Mobile myTouch 3G customers.
This has no noticeable GUI changes, mainly changes to the call quality.

I got the update this morning. Not noticing any difference. Still have the same amount of “bars” in the same geographical locations as yesterday. It hasn’t seemed to help 3G reception either.

I haven’t really compared call quality but I will now that I know what the update was about.
To confirm, I didn’t notice any gui changes.

this fixed my 3g thrashing issues, so maybe it was just for some people. (it would thrash the 3g and get no where unless you reregistered on the network and then only work for a little bit in some locations, mainly dundee)

The 2.22.23.02 radio update has been available via xda-developers for over a week. I flashed it about a week ago on my HTC Magic 32B from Vodafone NZ. It does work and it does improve reception / mobile data.

yes got update last week and no better than before update still same on my G1 so wakeup and give us G1 owners 2.0 or 2.1 we all know that our G1 can handle that upgrade

I got it last night, deferred it to today, and now Google Maps has disappeared… Several shut offs and restarts haven’t fixed it. I still says it is installed, but it doesn’t show up in the apps list.

Woke up to the update prompt — I’ve noticed no difference at all around Albuquerque. Agreed, very disappointing.
Oddly, last evening my phone shut down completely, and would not restart until I removed the battery. This is the first time this has happened to my G1… wonder if an earlier OTA “push” did it?

so far the only noticeable thing it’s done for me is introduce bugs into the Swype beta that weren’t there pre-update

Anyone have a rooted G1 and been prompted to do the update? I have… I am cincerned that if I accept the update it will unroot my phone and I will no longer be able to have full control over my phone and lose my ability to tether. Can anyone help answer this question?

I just received the update, I will let you know if I have any improvements later. I have been having some issues with my calls, so maybe it will fox them. Most of my problems have been things like not allowing me to hang up on some calls.

I got the update this morning. The menus scroll alot better and reversing to home page and starting up programs is a little faster. Im in Miami and now i have full reception EVERYWHERE. I also noticed my phone can make coffee and negotiate with terrorists. Eclair….where art tho?

My phone’s battery life went kaput! After this update my phone is next to useless because the battery lasts only a few hours.

OTA came last night. With update, wifi now correctly connects with Apple’s Airport, which it hasn’t in the past.

This update broke Google Voice on the G1.
It worked fine up until day of the update. I re-installed… nothing fixes Google Voice now.

I recieved this update about 2 weeks ago. I hate it. It got rid of my Google Maps. My maps icon is now just a generic android icon. The apps manager doesn’t find it and as for going through the market, useless. It shows the usual open and uninstall but they are both grey’d out and wont let me pick either one. The G1 is pointless without MAPS in it. Someone royally F’d up on this update.
