Nexus 2 releases in June on Verizon Wireless

by Simon Walker on 15th Mar 2010 -

I’ve been pondering this news throughout the day wondering if someone is just playing us for a fool, or someone who really has some inside knowledge sent us some real exclusive news.

People have speculated about a possible Nexus with a keyboard for business, but all it has ever been is speculation and nothing more.

We received this one line anonymous email today saying:

“nexus 2 releases in june. main carrier will be verizon wireless”

That’s all it said. Who knows if it’s something to get excited about or not. Who knows if the Nexus 2 is even in development. I decided to share this email anyways, and maybe you guys will shoot me down for posting it, but what if it is true? What if the HTC Nexus 2 really exists?

If you hear anything or your the person who sent us the email, please give us some more info… PLEASE..

Actually Google did say on release day of Nexus One that they’d follow up soon with a keyboard version (for business users) this year. So its not exactly a Nexus 2, just the keyboard version with hopefully minor improvements as well.

in time to compete with iphone 4g. its also will be six months after nexus one so makes sense. motorola announced partnership with google direct phone in 1H of 2010. Might not be nexus 2 but a new nexus phone as google confirmed it is a series. it’s probably the shadow. c’mon you know how quickly these android phones are released. and verizon and motorola have a great relationship (droid, razr back in the day). verizon probably didn’t want nexus one at first b/c invested in nexus 2 and droid at the time and probably felt it had to many quirks. i can not say more and nothings official as nothings set in concrete yet. by the way i sent in the email

If there is any truth to this rumor, then it’s another perfect example of Google screwing over T-Mobile for being the first major carrier to embrace Android.

First, they threw T-Mobile under the bus for the 3G issues that appear to be HW related, which probably would have been picked up pre-release if Google had tested the phone properly…

If they release the N2 on only one carrier, it makes their entire model a load of crap… same old, same old. They should have a global distribution chain established with the N1 experience, why not release the N2 globally? Doesn’t make sense for Google to operate like every other company, i.e. release for one region/carrier and add others much later.

Sorry for the rambling, but my butt is still smarting from Google not including family plan customers in the discount model for T-Mobile. I’ll be getting an HD2 next week. :-)

I love the specs of the HD2 and I’m dying for Verizon to get a smartphone with a 4.3″ screen, but it is an outdated phone before it is even released in the U.S. Microsoft confirmed that it would NOT be updated from WinMo 6.5 to the new Windows 7 series. If your getting this phone to root it and port android to it, fine; but I wouldn’t buy this phone expecting future WinMo support.

That rss feature on your website here is brilliant, you should tell people about it in your next post. I haven’t noted it for the first couple of times, now I’m using it every morning to check on any updates. I’m on a really slow dial-up connection in Brazil and it’s quite frustrating to sit there and wait for such a long time ’til the page loads… but hey, I just found your rss page and added it to the Google Reader and voil? – I’m always up-to-date! Well buddy, keep up the good work and make that rss button a little bigger so that other people can enjoy that as well :-P

This is a good post, which features worthwhile information. If you invest your time in reading this, article it really worth it. This article starts in a perfect way. The author has full grip on the topic through out the article. I like the way in which writer has ended his article. It is not a regular useless post in which even writer is not sure that what exactly he wants to say.

It doesn’t seem to me like Verizon would bother getting the Nexus One out soon only to have the Nexus Two come out 2 months later. I’d find the picture more believable if it didn’t look exactly like the Nexus One.

Its already April 6, and Verizon still has not released Nexus 1. What makes you think they are releasing Nexus 2 by June. I can do the same thing by crossing out the one and putting a two on the box, hey lets write 3 instead.
