The rumors are true: meet Sprint’s HTC Evo

As predicted, Sprint’s hint of something big coming was the news of their new device, HTC Evo; formerly HTC Supersonic.  And what news it is, Evo is a powerhouse and looks to easily be THE smartphone. The details:

  • Android 2.1 with Sense UI
  • 4.3″ screen
  • 3G/4G capable
  • Dual cameras; 8mp on the back with dual LED flash, 1.3mp on the front
  • 1GHz Snapdragon
  • HDMI connection and output at 720p
  • Mobile hotspot capability for up to 8! devices
  • Comes with 8GB Micro SD, holds to 32GB
  • FM radio
  • Kickstand for media viewing
  • Digital compass, G-Sensor, proximity sensor, light sensor, GPS

Now the bad news. You’re going to have to wait till June get your hands on this sexy Android. But hey, at least you’ll have time to save up. In the meantime, you can read more about HTC Evo, see 360 degree shots, and sign-up for updates over at Sprint.

    Although the phone is not half as sexy looking as the Nexus One, functionality wise it just reset the bar for hand set manufacturers. I just might have to own one. 8 megapixels, dual cameras, myfi for up to 8 users and oh yeah, its 4G. Awesome.
