Did you know that 1 in 4 mobile phones are either lost or stolen each year.  When you lose your credit card you make a quick phone call and the card is cancelled so anyone who finds it or the person who stole can no longer use it.

iTag has launched a new service that offers similar protection for your phone.

To end an era when 1 in 4 mobile phones is either lost or stolen each year, the iTag company today officially unveiled its innovative new mobile Lost and Found application and services. With immediate support of Android handsets, iTag additionally announced that it will offer FREE Premium lifetime service for the first 10,000 people to register at iTag.com.

iTag is a FREE service that gives mobile phone owners the ability to locate and protect lost or stolen phones. From iTag’s safe and secure website, owners can literally view the location of their phone on a map. Consumers can also make their phone ring from iTag.com, even if it is set to silent or vibrate. As an added precaution against thieves, if someone switches the phone’s SIM card, an alert is sent and the owner can view the new number to give it to the authorities.

iTag is not just a simple phone locking system, it also includes the following features:

  • Locking the keys so no one can use the device
  • Backing up and restoring the phone’s address book
  • Ensuring security of private and confidential information by permanently deleting all the phone’s data
  • Sending a message to a friend that is closest to a lost phone, allowing them to help retrieve it
  • Permission based mobile social networking features allows a consumer to see the location of friends and family

iTag’s Lost and Found service is available now for all Android powered phones. Visit www.itag.com to enable immediate protection today.  Become one of the first 10,000 registered and receive iTag protection and social networking Premium Features FREE for life.

Signed up for it, but can’t get logged in to their forums on either my computer or my phone. Tried contacting them, but got a 404 file not found error. Has anyone on here ever used them?

I also see that my now premium account won’t be free unless I get three more people to sign up. I hope they don’t start charging me, because there is no way to stop using them or to contact them.
