A few weeks ago we reported on a Android Market having a problem in South Korea. To refresh your memory, South Korea law requires all games to be reviewed by their gaming board before being made for sale, something that presented quite a problem for Android’s 4000+ game titles that skipped that step and were being sold illegally. Well, a solution has been found and you’re not going to like it.
All game titles in the Android Market in South Korea will be removed within one month. Bad news indeed, but it makes sense from a logistical standpoint. Not only do all games require review, but even updated versions must pass through the gaming board prior to release. This made offering games not only a nightmare for Google but those poor game developers that just want to improve their product.
Is there a way around it? Perhaps. Korean iTunes users simply created a U.S.-based account to get around restrictions, a step not so easy for Android. But as the saying goes, if there is a will, there is a way.
