ROM: HTCClay SuperBadCM5 v1.0G for T-Mobile G1/T-Mobile 3G

HTCClay SuperBad Screen Shots

HTCClay has released a new ROM based on the latest CyanogenMOD Android 2.1 release.  The new ROM is called SuperBadCM5 and is available for the T-Mobile G1/T-Mobile 3G.  The initial release is v1.0G.

This is a full ROM so no previous install is required.  All Google Apps are included so a single flash should have you all setup and ready to Rock and Roll.

SuperBadCM5 v1.0G:
This ROM is a fully themed CM5.

Full wipe required before installing this ROM

It includes:
- Swap script added from Dr.Cloverfield’s magic elixer.
- Need ext partition.
- Full update with gapps.

One stop shop.

Head over to HTCClay’s AndroidSPIN Developer Homepage for more information and downloads.

I personally REALLY htcclay’s themed roms, however… does this rom have a fix for the battery drain bug in CM’s rom? It’s a pretty big bug seeing as CM acknoledged that his G1 drained to 2% over night (while his MT3G stayed at 98%).

I hope you can tell me, because if not, there really is no reason to use this rom yet.

That issue can be fixed on the G1 by turning off “Battery Status Display” using the Spare Parts app.

Does the T-mobile 3g mean the My Touch 3g? I have original MT3G want to know if i can flash this rom.

    • jayzusfk

of course you can, you have the phone it was made for.

the newer mt3g phones have to wait for the 32a port.

  19. i still feel like this ROM needs a lot more….i couldnt find an htc IME for 2.1. but this looks like in the next coming releases that this will be THE ROM of choice for everybody. until then SuperFast1.3.3 is the fastest things to use.

Check XDA devs… I don’t have the link anymore since I’ve been using Swype for quite a while now but there is an HTC IME out there for 2.1 roms…

I installed this ROM on my G1 and I am very impressed. I did have to reboot in order to sign in to my Google account though. Wi-Fi, Blue-tooth works great but the Market runs slow though. I do not use animations to reduce lag. I love this ROM! :-)

Ok THEMIGHTYACEMAN comment about the battery drain was an under statement! My battery drained to 60% in two hours. Lucky for me I kept SuperFast1.3.3RHJ on my micro sd. I still love this ROM. I know the power drain bug will fixed soon.

I was so surprised that htcclay did this rom, as the battery status trick was not the ultimate solution. I found his posting of the new rom to be a tiny (tiny) bit reckless.

No worries, though. CM fixed the issue, and I’m sure Clay will be on top of that.

Regardless, running 2.1 on the G1 will always be quite tasking on the battery (It’s pretty incredible what that old phone can still do).

I flashed Cyanogen and loved it then tried Superbad and really love it. I had the same battery issues everyone is talking about but I had to re flash the rom because I did something stupid and the problem went away. One difference. I have an extended battery, the one that turns you phone into a humpback but the initial flash was still noticable on my battery. The second flash seems to have fixed something and my battery is back to normal, well somewhat normal it is 2.1.
