Okay folks, the news is hot that Verizon Droid Eris is going to receive the Android 2.1. We’ve been waiting for the 2.1 update for Droid Eris from a long time, and I think the time is here. According to a leaked screenshot, the Droid Eris will receive the 2.1 update on May 11th, per it’s appearance on an internal Verizon page but still it’s not 100% confirmed. But be ready, may be Verizon will show some courtesy. Stay tuned with us for updates.

I was told by a Verizon Wireless Rep at a local store that today was the day for the Android 2.1 update. He supposedly had the Eris and the Beta version 2.1 for a while as he was a Beta tester. It’s 8:22am EST and no update! I even tried the System Update link in Settings and it still says “Your System is currently up to date”. This is ridiculous that we have to sit and wait while other users with phones with the same make and on the same network have been enjoying the features that come with 2.1 for awhile now. We should be able to manually download it from HTC or Verizon Wireless.

They’re doing the OTA one region at a time. I called yesterday and they told me that the central NY area should get it in the next 24 hours or so.
