Okay people, it’s training time. Not for you, for Sprint employees. The folks over at Android Guys received some screenshots showing the Sprint EVO 4G training materials. The training has begun, that also means that the day is near when the phone will hit the shelves, which is rumored to be June 6th. There is an event in New York City next week, hosted by Sprint, where they may announce the release date.
The device comes with pre-loaded Sprint specific apps. According to the training materials, the EVO 4G will require special rate plans. The Hotspot feature will support WEP and WPA encryption, and FM Radio is a go. The good news is that the handset comes with both Google Navigation and Sprint Navigation, and finally reset and recovery menus, which are navigated with volume rocker.

I get maybe an additional feel for the hotspot feature, but nothing else.
The only reason I’ve stayed with Sprint until such a phone was released, was because of the plans. No other contract carrier can touch Sprint, and their sales people will admit as such.
If Sprint charges the same as other carriers for the phone and plans, then what is the incentive for people to come to Sprint!? 4G? Sure, it will be awesome, but most don’t care.
Bleh.. plan prices better NOT go up..
I think they just want some custom plans tailored for the Evo’s features and will only charge extra for the really network-heavy features (tethering comes to mind here).

I agree. I’m hoping this is optional for the “FULL” experience and not required like the Nexus One on T-Mobile.
My current plan is cancelled (Helio/Virgin Mobile) Mainly, I want to stay for this phone and they offer the best plan out there right now.
What I don’t want is to pay extra for services I don’t want or need, expecially by being FORCED to pick the only plan they offer for the phone.
Yup. The custom plans being written up will probably leave customers paying only for what they want, and nothing else. I imagine that there will be a base rate plan with a number of addons, and the system will probably end up being similar to Verizon’s completely custom plan creation options.
