ROM: Cyanogen CyanogenMod-5 v5.0.7 Test 5 for T-Mobile G1/T-Mobile MT3G

29

Cyanogen has released an update to his Android 2.1 (Eclair) ROM for the T-Mobile G1/T-Mobile MT3G called CyanogenMod-5 now at version v5.0.7 test 5

A few things to note if you are going to help Cyanogen out with testing his latest Rom. If you find any errors or bugs report them on Cyanogen’s page here. You can also review what others have been finding.

When you are posting your error get your dmesg and logcat. You can get your log by going to the app Log Collector app.  it looks like this. It is already built into Cyanogen. Then report your error here with your log.

To get your demesg:

First:

You need the adb Tool. The adb tool is included in the Android SDK. If you have already installed the Android SDK on your local machine, you will find adb in the <sdk>/tools/ directory. If you do not have the Android SDK, download the latest version from this location and install it. http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html

Once you install the SDK, the adb tool will be available to you.

Second:

Open up the command prompt on your PC.
Then type “adb shell dmesg > dmesg.txt” when you get the dmesg.txt include that in your error report for Cyanogen to see.

Connection error? What are you all talking about – 3G and everything else works fine (just as good or better than the previous test builds). I’m using a MyTouch 3G though, not a G1.

it was kind of messed up for me when i first flashed. i didnt wipe before flashing from test two or test 3 i cant remember which one i used last. i got all kinds of force closes, the apps to sd only seemd to take effect once the internal storage was closed. i wiped and flashed again twice. it seems to have helped. now im flashing the gapps.zip to get my google apps back, i hope that wasnt the cause of the problem. (tangent warning) i got so many force closes, even the home screen couldnt stay open, it would just give the force close option, usually there is force close and wait. what is it that makes it say force close only instead of giving me the option to wait?

Think of it like your using your PC, if your windows explorer locks up it asks you to end task so it can refresh itself. Like you said you flashed over without wiping, you must always wipe. Each build featured something different and I believe BUILD 3 had a new kernal. May have been the reason for the FC.

I reported 3D gallery not working in test5, I did a full wipe & re-flashed, now I’m not having the problem again. Everything seems to be in working order. Rom is running very fast, & smooth. More wonderful work from Cyan. :)

i’ve been using test 5 for about two days now and i think im going to go back to test 2 because test 5 is running so slowly. it takes my home screen longer to load, and the movement between home pages is choppy. in test 2 everything ran.. well forgive the pun, but.. like a dream.
