Hold on to your horses Nexus One owners, because this is NOT a drill. It has been reported by TechCrunch that the roll-out of Android 2.2 (aka Froyo) has already begun. It is not yet known if this is a gradual roll-out or not, so if you own a Nexus One, start checking for updates and hoping for the best because you too could soon be running Android 2.2 on your phone. In the mean time, check out these screenshots, courtesy of TechCrunch.
If you are one of the lucky ones who has received this update, why not let us know in the comments?

I call BS. There is no shot of the build number. I think this guy installed the SDK Rom released by Chris Soyars last night and is just trying to generate hits on his website. I will believe it when I see an update.zip on XDA.

I’m with Don on this! Google IO has even said on their twitter it will be a few weeks.I’ve looked everywhere else and nobody can confirm. This story is a cruel joke!!
Any other website, I’d agree with you, but this is TechCrunch and they’re a very well-known website for this sort of stuff. If this does turn out to be fake, TechCrunch would instantly lose all of their credibility, so I doubt they would risk something like this.
I personally don’t trust TechCrunch at all after the smear campaign they ran again last.fm. They made up loads of stuff that time and did it again afterwards.

You can “checkin” for the update by dialling *#*#checkin#*#* (*#*#2432546#*#*) which may prompt an OTA for you. This was used back in the day of Donut and Eclair so may work for Froyo also.
Do we know, yet, which networks these OTA have been arriving over? Or does that not matter at all for the SIM-free Nexus One?

There next to no chance that Engadget is lying about this.

I didn’t say I called today you idiot. I called yesterday because I had gotten a replacement nexus one. I wanted to see if it was a refurbished one or not. I also asked the rep about 2.2 and the 29th of may is when it is released. So its not bs. That is what I was told.

am from the Philippines i downloaded last night on my stock N1 and am loving it… but i cant figure out how to move applications to the sd card the move on sd card button cant be pressed, anyone can help?
* if you download on windows OS, rename the file just “update”.
* after the the exclamation mark with the android just press the “Power” and “Volume Up” buttons( i counted 3 seconds before releasing, be patient here)
i hope updating now wont have any bad effect on my N1 because am NOT from the US… ty
some applications suddenly were not working well like handcent and HTC_IME is that normal? ty
