The Nexus One Android 2.2 OTA Update file URL has been found and it’s already in the hands of the developers.
You can download it for yourself here: ( Google Removed it)
http://android.clients.google.com/packages/passion/signed-passion-FRF50-from-ERE27.1e519a24.zip
UPDATE: Google removed the file. You can now download it here
Give the developers a few hours and I’m sure we’ll see a rooted version.
UPDATE:
If you want to flash the downloaded update file, follow this guide:

Rename to update.zip and then boot into recovery and then apply sdcard:update.zip?
2010/05/22 at 13:35:38
Hey there, just want to confirm if this can be used with an unlocked bootloader and custom ROM or if we have to wait to get one of the developers to give us a tweaked one?
2010/05/22 at 13:39:58
i copied it as update.zip but get the error :
Verifying current system…
assert failed
E:Error in /sdcard/update.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
2010/05/22 at 13:45:16
are you on unlocked bootloader with custom rom? that’s probly why
2010/05/22 at 13:51:40
Yeah
2010/05/22 at 13:52:03
You need to go back to full stock phone before using this or wait for the developers to release an update.
2010/05/22 at 13:55:30
I want this for droid asap! dang it
2010/05/22 at 14:07:11
2.2 update won’t update for me. Status 7… Not a rooted phone, but is the AT&T version. Is everyone else’s the Verizon version? Maybe another rom is required for this version?
2010/05/22 at 14:08:30
Apologies, I mean the t-mobile version…
2010/05/22 at 14:08:39
I’m getting the same error message as Victor but I’m running the non-rooted, stock OS on my AT&T Nexus One. I’ve downloaded the Froyo update from 2 different sources now but still get the same error message when I try to update my phone.
2010/05/22 at 14:09:59
Has anyone tried this update yet ?
2010/05/22 at 14:13:04
Installed and working…!
2010/05/22 at 14:19:43
Ran it on Stock Nexus one – seems to be running fine!
2010/05/22 at 14:27:11
Those of you with success–which version of the phone do you have? My stock at&t gets a status 7.
2010/05/22 at 14:34:47
Installed and working on my T-Mobile Nexus One, but my data connection now sucks.
2010/05/22 at 14:38:11
I am running into the same problems as the others…i have returned to the stock rom EPE76 and still nothing.
Please help.
2010/05/22 at 14:42:32
I’m confirming that the upgrade for ATT Nexus Ones doesn’t seem to work.
2010/05/22 at 14:46:51
Won’t work on the AT&T version because there is a difference in the software load. Probably nothing big between the two, but it definitely won’t work for us. Should have been obvious as we are all most likely on build EPE54B, and not ERE27
2010/05/22 at 14:48:14
Worked perfectly on my unlocked T-Mobile Nexus One with stock ROM.
2010/05/22 at 14:48:48
I reinstalled stock phone from http://forum.androidspin.com/showthread.php?t=2630
It took some time had to install latest sdk and do the command from the cmd prompt.
Running on a XP here.
But finally got it installed
Then I reboot it and load the update.zip again.
This time it WORKED!
It says Android version 2.2
Build Number FRF50
kernel Version 2.6.32.9-27220….
It seems very fast in the menus.
So I went to Portable WiFi Hotspot
and see the new Tethering option
2010/05/22 at 14:57:03
Worked fine for my stock T-Mobile N1.
2010/05/22 at 15:07:23
Does this mean us AT&T/Rogers users will have to wait till official release?
2010/05/22 at 15:07:28
Worked like a charm….instant gratification, thanks for the link….only drama was forgetting I already had an update.zip (2.1) file on sd card and Win 7 renamed the 2.2 file to update(2).zip so first time successfully updated to same version …DOH!!
It sat on the animated Google startup icon for quite a while so began to wonder if hung but all is working, had to download flash manually?
2010/05/22 at 15:57:34
Victor, I get the same error , but I am running my Nexus One on AT&T’s network. Are you on T-Mobile?
2010/05/22 at 16:00:36
I’m so not tech savvy, can someone help me. I’ve got N1 T-Mobile
2010/05/22 at 16:01:58
Meredith, go here… and follow the instructions. It will work on your T-Mobile N1. http://www.gadgetopolis.com/posts/7733

then when i dry to download it from my phone that dont work i guess i have to wait or is there another way?
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2010/05/23 at 02:38:45
just wait for a rooted version much better anyway
2010/05/23 at 07:26:19
Will this work on the HTC Desire? It’s the same hardware i belive…?
2010/05/23 at 10:05:33
@paulobrien repacked a custom froyo pre-rooted version, that doesn’t require you to go back to original shipped rom.
just boot with your custom bootloader, wipe and flash.

Hey guys! For those of you having an issue with getting you update downloaded to you microsd card, try this:
1. Download the zip file directly on your N1 – it has nowhere else to put it but on your card.
2. Use a file manager app like Astro File Manager to rename the file.
3. Resume with updating directions.
I did steps one and two above but since I have the at&t version I had to halt. Enjoy though!
2010/05/23 at 12:25:01
What was the size of the download? I tried several times, the first said it was 44 MB but it failed, then the second was only 5 MB and it was successful. Now it seems the link is no longer working.
2010/05/23 at 17:42:34
will the tmobile g1 get the android 2.2 update?
2010/05/24 at 17:26:49
Upgrade worked like a charm on my stock T-Mobile Nexus One. Simply followed the instructions on this site – and voila!
http://phandroid.com/2010/05/22/manually-update-your-nexus-one-to-android-2-2-froyo/
Start to finish in less than 15 minutes.

Worked great on my stock T-Mobile N1.
Accidentally renamed the file to update.zip.zip the first time around, but worked when i caught the mistake.
Download file was 44.4MB
2010/05/25 at 17:44:17
The update will not work on all tmobile nexus one, you have to have build ERE27, I updated succesfully with a nexus one I bought about 6 weeks ago, today I received another nexus one on tmobile too, with build ERD79 and it did not work. Apparently the new ones can’t be updated with this file.
2010/05/25 at 19:05:57
So I’m hearing that the Froyo floating around on the web might not be the official release.
I found two different versions, one was 81MB and the other was 44MB.
I tried the 81MB file first and it failed but the 44 MB file installed nicely.
Anyone have an idea as to whats going on?
Oh and the 81MB file said something about having the FM Tuner with the update which is why I tried that one first but since it failed I went with the second one but there was no FM Tuner and the only thing that seems to be buggy about it is the Youtube Widget isnt working properly. It constantly says “Loading” on the widget and tapping the widget does nothing except for the search function for youtube.

PLEASE CLARIFY, I AM CONFUSED. i have a new NEXUS ONE unlocked Version AT&T (not the T-Mobile), my build Number is : EPE54B, Firmware: 2.1-update1 .
I tried 2 of the 2.2 versions out there on my phone but i get the errors during the upgrade.
Does anyone know where to download the correct 2.2 upgrade for the AT&T version of the Nexus One. PLEASE?
Thanks a lot… I cannot wait to upgrade to this new version.
2010/05/27 at 16:07:22
to confirm – the 44mb file that worked on two t-mobile nexus ones failed to install on an AT&T nexus one.
going to need a new build or an official release. Rick Culleton DiscountElectronics.com

would this update work on the droid?
2010/05/28 at 01:06:18
Didn’t Google issue a statement saying that this wasn’t the final version?
Mostly works okay though.
Mostly,
2010/05/28 at 13:03:02
if on tmobile n getting the failed message try changing back to orginal skin if changed n name the file “update” cuz the file is already zipped. i did that and i got the update
2010/05/29 at 12:57:58
This only works on T mobile phones. I have both types. My T Mobile is rooted and took 2.2 fine. My AT&T is locked and won’t take. Waiting for OTA update unless someone comes up with something.
