Rename to update.zip and then boot into recovery and then apply sdcard:update.zip?

Hey there, just want to confirm if this can be used with an unlocked bootloader and custom ROM or if we have to wait to get one of the developers to give us a tweaked one?

Won’t work on the AT&T version because there is a difference in the software load. Probably nothing big between the two, but it definitely won’t work for us. Should have been obvious as we are all most likely on build EPE54B, and not ERE27

I reinstalled stock phone from http://forum.androidspin.com/showthread.php?t=2630
It took some time had to install latest sdk and do the command from the cmd prompt.
    Running on a XP here.

    But finally got it installed

Then I reboot it and load the update.zip again.

    This time it WORKED!

    It says Android version 2.2
    Build Number FRF50
    kernel Version 2.6.32.9-27220….

It seems very fast in the menus.

So I went to Portable WiFi Hotspot
and see the new Tethering option :-)

Hey guys! For those of you having an issue with getting you update downloaded to you microsd card, try this:

    1. Download the zip file directly on your N1 – it has nowhere else to put it but on your card.
    2. Use a file manager app like Astro File Manager to rename the file.
    3. Resume with updating directions.

I did steps one and two above but since I have the at&t version I had to halt. Enjoy though!

So I’m hearing that the Froyo floating around on the web might not be the official release.

I found two different versions, one was 81MB and the other was 44MB.

I tried the 81MB file first and it failed but the 44 MB file installed nicely.

Anyone have an idea as to whats going on?

Oh and the 81MB file said something about having the FM Tuner with the update which is why I tried that one first but since it failed I went with the second one but there was no FM Tuner and the only thing that seems to be buggy about it is the Youtube Widget isnt working properly. It constantly says “Loading” on the widget and tapping the widget does nothing except for the search function for youtube.
