Earlier today we talked about the new HTC device, Aria, coming to AT&T June 20th. Overall, it appears to be a decent mid-range Android. However, you should be aware of one extra “feature”: you can only install apps from Android Market. This means you won’t be able to try out any apps while they’re in beta, unless the app is made available on the market; something rarely seen from public companies. Also off limits are any apps only available from third-party sites, such as eReader.com or some EA Mobile games.
To some, this might not be a big deal. For other people who might be swayed to Android because of the open community, or those who currently own an Android, probably don’t want to be told what they can and can’t do with their device.
There is a bright side though. Given the Aria is a HTC device, it’s only a matter of days before someone roots it and then anyone can do what they want with it.
HTC Aria will be available for $130 with a new two-year contract, you can see the Aria’s specs at our device page.

Sounds like they want to keep the iPhone their number one option. Especially with iPhone 4 coming. Doubt they care about android till their contract with Apple ends.
