Sneak Peek At CyanogenMOD CM6 Test Build on G1 and Nexus

by Alex Smith on 25th Jun 2010 -

CyanogenMOD CM6 is almost ready for prime time testing, and with that release comes Android 2.2. The videos below show a CM6 test build running on a T-Mobile G1 and Google Nexus One. Hopefully this means a test release is coming pretty soon.

We have received word that CM6 will be available for the T-Mobile G1/Dream, Google Nexus One and the Motorola Droid.  Still no word on an actual release date, but we are hoping for a possible test release soon.

Here is a special sneak peak at CyanogenMOD’s latest build of CM6 running on the T-Mobile G1:

Just like the rest of you, we can’t wait for the actual release to drop and we’ll keep you updated as we hear any more news.

BIG thanks as always to TeamDouche and especially @chrissoyars for the videos. You guys ROCK!

About the Author

I first discovered Android when I purchased my G1 and then once I rooted it I realized this was becoming an addiction. I later purchased the Nexus One and after rooting that device I finally realized I had a problem. What do you do when you have an addiction? you guessed it, don't be a quitter. Awesome stuff. Looked like it was running very nicely even on the G1. That thing will never die ;)

Personally I’m looking forward to the release for the Desire but I think that will be a while away yet :(

PROTIP: When posting an article make sure to….
    1. Verify the G1 video is actually cm6test0 (BECAUSE IT IS NOT)
    2. Give credit to the video that is legit. (Thanks @chrissoyars)

As for the G1 video, I was only going by the title of the video posted.

with that many icons next to the app drawer its a common mistake to open the wrong thing >.< so if you're gonna release that launcher in cyan6 hopefully it will be optional

Looks great! Ready to switch back to cm from whatever Froyo I’m running now. Hoping to have the volume still control next track, tethering, auto brightness among other features. Also anxious to get the four apps back at the bottom as opposed to the two froyo has. Running Droid. Any chance we can make video out happen on Moto Droid 1?? Thanks CM!

I hope ADW Launcher will be optional, it’s nice to have a choice and ADW doesn’t suit everyone.

Looking good though, overall. Can’t wait to stick this beauty on my Nexus.

He said this is just straight AOSP, in which case you can just download that here:
