T-Mobile and Samsung have officially announced the Samsung Vibrant. This device is set to launch on July 21st for $199 with new 2-yr service agreement and is packing a lot of heat. T-Mobile really needs to step their game up seeing how AT&T has already announced a similar device, the Samsung “Captivate.”  The “Vibrant” is set to launch with some great things under the hood. Amazon’s Kindle app, The Sims 3, MobiTV and James Cameron’s “Avatar” just to name a few, are to come preloaded onto the device.

Since this device is coming to all major U.S. carriers, I’m sure we can see a difference in what is pre-installed and exclusive to the carrier itself.

Specs for the Samsung Vibrant include:

  • 4 inch Super AMOLED touchscreen
  • 5 megapixel camera
  • Swype
  • Dimensions 4.8 x 2.5 x 0.4 inches
  • Android 2.1
  • HD video recorder
  • 16GB Built-in Memory
  • microSD/microSDHC
  • 1GHz CPU Speed
  • 3.5mm Audio Jack

I also have the HD2 running Shubcraft CM6. I've been following the Android community for a while now and couldn't be happier doing anything else. The Captivate has a gyroscope which is awesome: http://briefmobile.com/samsung-att-captivate — and I like the new Media Hub idea… you’ll be able to buy all the movies/tv content you want on all the Galaxy S devices. Overall, the Galaxy S is going to be a great Android addition because: Android 2.2 update guaranteed PLUS a phone for each carrier. Development should be really good on these devices. Lots of custom ROMs.
