I cant believe that. The phones are in two different categories. I would personally go evo but hey I’m only on vote.
Doesn’t really matter because I have a nexus running froyo

The only reason Slide won is because T-Mobile was Twitting that they need help winning the contest, I say it’s cheating!

Don’t hate. The Slide is an awesome device. There is a whole community of devs and modders behind it.
Plus, they handed out at least 10,000 free ones on Father’s Day.

Well I’ve used a MTS and an EVO. I could say I voted for the slide however. I liked the slide it was more “my touch” as I could say it had me from the ui feature where I could change themes and modes that’s why I voted for the slide. But for the evo that 4.3″ display playing a movie is amazing! HTC has made some great phones. But when T-mobile gets a phone on that level maybe we can actually have a real competition

Who cares? I have an EVO, and would certainly not give it up to go back to T-Mobile and thier lack of 3G support… And then to use the MyTouch slide? Really? I understand that there are those who must have a physical keyboard, and that’s fine… Also, many think the iPhone 4 is a better phone than the EVO. Again, this is fine, and why would I care? I could the the ONLY one that likes the EVO, and that would still be fine. But I do wonder how the MyTouch slide sales figures will stack against that of the EVO. After, all, the proof is in the pudding, and hopefully in the Froyo in the near future… Very near, in fact, for us less popular EVO users.

hey, they’re both android. we’re all family
nothing to be ashamed of. i might just throw out that the carrier might be an issue. in my area at least, tmobile gets much better coverage, and i only know a handful of people who have sprint. maybe that’s why.

Lol. Wtf. Really? They’re clearly not within the same playing field. One is a first gen and one is a second gen. But in the end it all depends on the end user. Wonder if MTS will get group or even gingerbread.
1st gen? The myTouch slide came out way after the Evo. It’s a third gen.

The EVO4 is a better device technologically and visually. It is the carrier who lost the poll here. If the EVO 4 (or something similar) was on T-Mobile (instead of that stupid HD2 with an already dead WinMo OS for instance) then the results would’ve been different.
They should’ve at least put the Nexus One instead of the EVO. That would’ve made for a more interesting poll IMO.
On a side note, I will take the N1 any day over the EVO bc of the carrier for the most part – the phones are similar enough (same manufacturer) and I don’t really like THAT big of a screen like on the EVO.
My peer has a N1 i have rooted for him. I have to say, I hate the screen. I can make out pixels pretty far away. I have a Slide myself, and despite the smaller size, its screen looks much better. I was shocked by the poor screen quality on that N1! That being said, I would love an Evo, but the MTS is a pretty solid phone. And to whoever said it was 1st-gen, you’re an idiot. It does not have the CPU of the G1 or the OG myTouch. That extra 72Mhz goes a long way. That, and the extra RAM.

Why not just wait and compare the evo to the samsung vibrant when it comes out?

I think the main factor here is the carriers. Sprint has lost so many customers to T-Mob and Verizon due to their lack of customer support. Therefore I would have to say that the winning percentage probably had a bitter taste in their mouth left over from Sprint’s horrible tasting customer service soup. I know its all about the phone, but in this case the carrier is the deciding factor.

Whoever said the MyTouch Slide is 1st is a moron. The g1 is a 1st gen Android phone. Get educated before you make comments.

what’s with this recent proliferation of smart phone opinion polls? so 4000 people don’t like my phone, why should this bother me? I love my evo but I can totally understand that someone might prefer a physical keyboard over a snapdragon

Pretty funny…. I had a Nexus One on T-Mobile for 3 months… I now have an EVO and I felt the Nexus One was a SLIGHTLY better device overall. The problem was T-Mobile… T-Mobile’s 3G network is TINY and spotty depending on where you live. If your lucky enough to live in a HSDPA+ city it’s blazing fast. For me I live 30 miles south of Nashville, TN… I could only get Edge speeds where I lived and their 3G in Nashville was okay. Sprint/Verizon 3G blows T-Mobiles away in Nashville. In Memphis, TN T-Mobile has HSDPA+ and HOLY COW… the phone was amazingly fast… Then comes the problem with T-Mobile… it’s a 3 hour drive from Memphis to Nashville… You are roaming/emergency calls only 50% of the way, EDGE speeds 10% of the time and GPRS 30% of the time and zero signal at all 10% of the time. and then on the 2 hour drive from Nashville to Knoxville you got the same thing…
It really does not matter how great the phone is…. I used the iPhone for 2 years and AT&T turned me to Android because AT&T’s network is just as spotty (in my area) as T-Mobile…. A great phone is only as great as the network it operates on..
I see you didn’t comment on Sprint, because I guarantee you it’s roaming in much of the same areas. Sprint has no spectrum advantage.
Sprint is garbage, worst carrier for coverage. Lots of their 3G is actually Alltel 3G. It’s not going to take much time or work to pass up Sprint 3G coverage

oh how i wish they would mix that massive screened device with a physical keyboard….apart from being a beast of a phone it would make a wonderful little gaming device….so it might be a lil thick but it wont be unbearable

You would be surprised by the number of people who think all android phones are the same. it is compared to the iphone so much people don’t realize the differences. I’ve had many people tell me they think android is horrible because of the g1.this was just last month. after I explained it to them that it was like a computer then they understood. Alot of people are still using first gen droids and thinking that’s the best it has to offer.its a problem I wish google could clarify for the consumer which I think would only help there sales

Just goes to show tech specs ain’t everything.

well the thing is that mytouch slide 3g has more color selection, yet evo 4g is just black! people like different colors and what is more suitable to their personalization.

I don’t really understand the point of competition between the 2 devices. They’re both android and both HTC. We’re all on the same team. It turns into a battle of carriers which makes the actual devices irrelevant.

It’s just bunch of poor white trash voting..because they can’t afford an Evo..
Here’s a tip. Get job, green card, something. Evo owners work for a looking.
They cost the same Jack.

Sprint wants to give me an account without a valid SSN#. Sprint= Phones for everyone that’s fresh off of the boat.

This is popularity vote only – not which phone is “better” – might as well ask who shoule be prom queen or who the best football team is – very “high school-ish” competition.

my best friend owns the evo and i have the mytouch slide and while his processor may open certain apps like pandora and bloo which take a few seconds to load, the difference is only a couple of seconds so its barely noticeable. the mytouch slide makes up for it by allowing you to set every key on the qwerty keyboard as a quick launch shortcut to any app. this is a major advantage over the evo for people who want extremely convenient and quick switching between apps. this feature alone gives me the edge on ease and speed of navigating the android operating system. not to mention the mytouch has about 100 mb more free ram and a way better battery life.
oh yea and swype texting and the genius button is really awesome too!
in the end it comes down to a matter of personal preference. yes the evo has more horsepower but the mytouch slide gets way better gas mileage on the battery and the keyboard shortcuts makes navigation seamless!

Sprint sucks….if the Evo was on a real network it probably would have won.
