Have you ever been a Nextel user? If so, did you find the chirp feature convenient and fun to use? Well if you do, there is an Android application that provides the exact same type of service free of charge called TiKL. You can find the download information at the bottom of this post.
This application is very convenient and easy to use. To initiate a call, all you have to do is press the contact button, select a contact, and press the button on the middle of the screen and you’re connected. Easy, right? Although this application is very simple, it provides you with an instant connection to other Android users using this application. Below you can see a screen shot of the application and descriptions of the buttons.

Running Cyanogen and it says I can’t use it because I don’t have a phone number programmed… and if I go to system info it shows me having no number …. any fix to that?

Turn off your phone and remove your sim card for 30 seconds. then place it back turn your phone back on and try the program again. It should work.

this app is sick i use it with my android buddies all the time. Use on any android phone on any network. Something apple cant and probably wont even do.

A few things that aren’t necessarily problems with the application, but with the limitations of memory usage: If you don’t have the service start at boot, you will not be able to be contacted by others using the app and when you start the service manually, sometimes it seems a bit buggy as if it needs to “catch up” when first connecting before use. Otherwise, awesome app idea. Kudos to the author(s)!! Still Beta, so I’m definitely seeing this as a promising app. I’m currently using a MyTouch Slide with stock ROM. Thanks dev!

@Rst_ack I saw the same issues and got a “damaged SD card” fault on reboot after installation. Using a Slide. Looking forward to additional ringtones and an ignore user option.

@Jim… you need to call your carrier and tell them… they will give you a silent update that gives you the number back.

All you have to do is save your number as a contact and it should work. Everyone I know who owns a MY-Touch Slide have the same problem. This is what we did to fix it. Hope this helped

Great App! Trying to get all my Android friends to download it. The only suggestion I have is that if you put your phone on vibrate for incoming calls that TiKL also go to vibrate mode. Hard to remember to do both all the time.

1) If you use TIKL does it eat in to your download allowance since its runs over 3G?
2) Some peeps here have said that i works on wifi. Do both parties have to be on wifi or can one be on 3G (kinda cross-networking) (out wifi to 3G or out 3G to wifi)

I’ve had this issue before with T-Mobile. It means that your SIM card does not your T-Mobile phone number correctly. You need to call T-Mobile support and ask them to send out a refresh to your SIM card.
Was this a new SIM card and phone or have you just used your old SIM card from an upgrade ?
Its great, I love it its much fun to use and random chirping is funny and catches attention when they don’t pick up
