Hey Droid Eris users, don’t give up on your device just yet. This is not Android 2.2, but according Verizon, the HTC Droid Eris will receive an OTA update starting July 16th and will take approximately one week to reach the entire customer base and will feature many OS enhancements.

What can you expect to see in the update?
- Improved Audio features.
- Enhanced Speed Dial features
- Improved Text, Video and Picture messaging features
- Contacts now sync with Backup assistant, Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync and Facebook
- The Weather app/widget has been enhanced and stabilized
- Gmail contacts will easily sync with your Droid Eris
- Your device will now pair with a Jabra Bluetooth headset

Do you still like the Droid Eris now that Verizon is no longer carrying it? Leave us your thought about the device below.

I have an Eris, and if Verizon is no longer carrying the Eris, they could at least replace the ones we have with a Droid (i.e. the X or Incredible) they will actually update the firmware and software on. Otherwise, myself and other customers who also have the Eris will be stranded with an outdated device, for me, another year and a half.
