As with every highly anticipated device launch, the question about availability arises. With the Motorola Droid X launching on Thursday, we want to know how many will be available per store and Droid-Life has some details for us. A Portland, Oregon store and kiosk have limited devices, as you can see in the image above, the store in downtown has 25 devices and the kiosk has 20. It is rumored that larger stores will carry approximately 60 devices, but nothing is confirmed. You might want to get to your local store a little earlier.

Recently, we learned of a warehouse in Memphis that had these devices and the quantity reached just over 25k in the inventory. Now, that number has fallen drastically to under 10k as the devices have begun to ship. If you ordered the Droid X, it is most likely on the way.
*UPDATE*
Portland is not the only city with the low Droid X inventory. Inventories from L.A., Houston, Philly, Las Vegas and NYC are HERE.

I technically simply cannot wait for this phone, only two days left and I just hope I can get my hands on one,. I have been reading a lot about the Android two.2 update that can come in August, simply one more motive to be psyched about this fantastic phone. Motorola and Verizon claim they will update the phone to Android 2.2 “late summer time.” It will be an over-the-air update. However out-of-the box on its July 15 launch it may have Android 2.1.

I have been feeling a little heat this morning from a few people not looking to think that the Droid X inventory will become confined on release day, as we claimed previously. Well we’ve only got five additional screenshots from 5 pretty main markets and I’d point out once more in which inventory appears to be very limited to me. A few of the main suppliers get up-wards of 60 equipment, but a few may only have a few items. Now probably these quantities are preceding common for a Verizon launch, nevertheless for a device this big, I guess I simply just figured stores might could have tried to have been overstocked.

I am so glad Verizon finally has a smart phone that can compete with the iphone. I love the Verizon network, but the phones just couldn’t compete for a long time, no “coolness factor”.
Guys, I worked tech support for Verizon in a call center for 5 years, and I can tell you this – NO information on a particular device that is visible in any vzw database prior to device launch is to be taken at face value. In particular, inventory information can change daily, if not hourly. Let’s see how those numbers look first thing Thursday morning before stores start opening before we all go into a panic…
I am not going to get this phone right now. I decided to wait. If the boot loader can not be unlocked then i will just wait till it can or for a new phone that can! I am still happy with my Moto Droid
I say do your deal over the phone instead of going into a store. Sure you’ll have to wait 24-48 hours but you’ll get you X. at least this will be more or less a controlled limited supply, unlike the Incredible, which was plagued by hardware component shortages.
Yes, I’m picking up a Droid X first thing in the morning. I have a 2 year-old Blackberry that seems older and slower with each comparison to new Smartphones coming on the market. I would’ve gone with iPhone but AT&T coverage is too spotty
those of you who have preordered should verify your status with bb. Wouldn’t want any unxpected surprises I have no idea what things will look like nationwide, but I know the store closest to me is only getting 10 in stock.
Smartphones, get support, and find out where to buy the best cell phone for you. These quantities are preceding common for a Verizon launch, nevertheless for a device this big, I guess I simply just figured stores might could have tried to have been overstocked.innovative & feature rich mobile phones.thanks

That’s great, It is rumored that larger stores will carry approximately 60 devices..Thanks
Trying to assure a majority of people that they won’t have difficult in acquiring the device at launch. Don’t try to cover up what you claimed to be the truth. Thanks

I sure hope that they have them available. Seems to be some continued confusion as to whether the 1st round of pre-orders will be guaranteed one or not. Defeats the purpose of a pre-order if they can’t.
My store isn’t selling the DX retail – apparently that came from the district manager – upgrades or new accounts only until further notice.
