PSX4Droid: Android’s First Playstation Emulator Now Available

16

A few weeks ago I reported that ZodTTD and yongzh were nearly finished with their release of PSX4Droid application, a Playstation emulator for higher- end Android devices. I’m happy to share the news that the application was recently released to the Android Market. I already have purchased it and tested out some games to see how well it works. Let me tell you, it works extremely well. This is the first release of PSX4Droid and I’m highly confident that there will be a lot more development on this application to come.

So far I have played only a couple of games just to test out how it functioned; Final Fantasy IX, Final Fantasy VIII, Final Fantasy Tactics and Need For Speed Porsche Unleashed. The Final Fantasy games all played just fine. The Need For Speed seemed a little slow, but I also don’t remember how it felt on an original PS1 . The screen wasn’t visually lagging. With all the new consoles for gaming I own, it could very well be that the game was just that way originally.

I have taken a few screen shots of Final Fantasy IX to share.

I tested this on my Samsung Vibrant and it ran beautifully. I plan to test it on the T-Mobile MyTouch 3G Slide and the Garminfone soon since they have slightly slower processors than the Vibrant or Nexus 1. Reports have come in that it runs great on the Nexus One so you should have no issues there. I can’t vouch for other devices at this time.

Fast and feature-packed including:
– Uses formats BIN,ISO,IMG,PBP,Z,ZNX, and Eboot (compressed too)
– WiiMote controller works
– Trackball dpad
– Memory card & save states.
– Virtual control overlays
– Scaling modes

Current Price $5.99

Time for an update. I am the proud father of three, 2, 8, and 11. I finally just moved up from the Samsung Vibrant to the Samsung Galaxy S III...... Let me tell you, it is mind blowing. I love Android, I love tech and I love my family. Not in that order though. I work to hard, play even harder and take care of all that are around me when I can.

The Android Market has taken my money (receipt received in email), but won’t let me download the app. It’s sitting on “Authorising Purchase”.

I’ve tried all the usual work-arounds….and have successfully bought and downloaded two apps since. It’s just THIS app that won’t download. Apparently others have had the same problem recently, though not everyone.

I finally gave up and got a refund. I was stuck at the authorizing purchase for 7 hours. I will try again once all the people who are having these problems actually can download it.

MetalWych: I sent the app authors an email through the address on the Google Checkout receipt. Maybe you could do the same. The more people who let them know there is a problem, the more chance we have of getting it fixed.

I have been seeing that a lot of that lately. I sincerely hope this gets resolved soon. The application is amazing. even with its quirks. I’m pretty sure its due to a huge influx of downloads of the application. it’s been pretty popular since launch. it jumped from 0 – 50 downloads this morning to 500-1,000 downloads in just a few hours.
