We’ve been hearing reports that some of you Orange HTC Hero users have began receiving an OTA update, and for those of you who are unaware, Android 2.1 will be a two-part update and phase one is rolling out now. The final phase of the update will begin rolling out next week. You’ve already been waiting long enough for Eclair, but just try and hold out for a few more days. Orange has issued this official statement regarding the update delay.

“We apologise for the delay in Orange Hero customers receiving their Éclair update. Testing the update across European markets took longer than anticipated. However, we hope to receive final approval by the end of the week and Orange handsets should start updating from next week.”
Although the Android 2.1 update process has felt like forever, the good news is that it may finally be coming to an end. Hold on for one more week or so and you should have it.

Thank you for the great article, I am very excited. I’ve had my telephone for just over a month now and am in point of fact enjoying the entire loose apps from the android marketplace, having the ability to have the web and navigation at my fingertips all of the time. The only lower than concept function is the image/video text messages, as they aren’t downloading properly.
