Please ignore the “Highly Confidential” text on the bottom of the image above. Internal Sprint communication is making its way around showing that the HTC Evo is to start receiving Android 2.2 as early as tomorrow, July 30th. We have learned that dates don’t mean anything, but hey, it’s a great start. This update is showing to pack some serious heat offering many updates, fixes and changes.

Features of the Android 2.2 upgrade include:

  • New preloaded widgets
  • Flashlight mode
  • light-assisted 720p recording
  • improvements to video quality

The update is expected to reach a small number of Evo users tomorrow that will be a test, obviously Sprint does not want to run into what they did before with an OTA update. The update will begin rolling out the week of August 1st. Maybe this time Sprint won’t brick your Evo. Enjoy your update very soon.
