This having been my first Android phone (an EVO), I wasn’t prepared for the sheer size of the number of applications in the Android Marketplace. I mean, my jaw dropped to the floor when I saw the quality and number of apps that were in there. It’s just amazing what you can do when you have an OS like this to play with.
And it’s only going to get bigger and better with Flash. The Android Market is just going to multiply exponentially once OS 2.2 (Froyo) becomes mainstream to the Android public and thus Flash Player 10.1 is deployed to Android devices. Then all the Adobe Flash developers who were shut out by the folks at Cupertino will be pushing their applications to the marketplace and it will be amazing.
“What kind of items can be made in Flash?”, you ask. Games. Just about any type of application. Mobile e-Learning. You name it.
Ted Patrick, Senior Technology Evangelist for Adobe discusses on Adobe TV in the video below how a developer can use Adobe AIR to package their application and export to the Android device. Adobe AIR is the technology used to have Flash run as a stand-alone application on a device.
Check out the video below for “Use Flash Builder to develop AIR apps for Android”
Go here for some more info and see some great samples of Android Development using Flash:

I’m definitely going to take a stab at some android development using Flash myself once Froyo officially comes to the HTC Evo. If the rumors are correct – that could by mid August for the HTC line. It can’t come here soon enough. :]

you sir are cool! EVO rocks and yes it was McNabb’s time to say adios. Welcome to Android. Froyo here we come!

ohh boy a scripting language on top of an interpreted language on top of an os on top of an os, how could that possibly go wrong, sigh, the only good thing about my android phone is that i’m using it as a modem right now.
@The Sombrero Kid
Perhaps you should get an iphone then and enjoy dropped calls and antenna issues
ehhh no thanks.
finding fault with android != apple fanboy.

Lol. Yeah the author never had an iPhone i guess. I’m an iPhone defector, Nexus One owner, and my jaw dropped to the floor when i saw how poor the apps in the Android market are. Buggy and unpolished. Have yet to see a single killer commercially developed 3D game like hundreds the iPhone has. Android has a LONG way to go and I’m still waiting. But wait I will.

I bought some games for my iPod Touch and generally found the 3G games on a 3.2″ screen were painful to use and not actually much fun to play. I haven’t touched them for months. On Android, I’ve bought a couple of games: “Skies of Glory” and “Asphalt 5″ as well as a few others. I’ve found much the same thing…..the screen is too small, even on my Nexus One.
I’m currently playing with FF VII in a PSX4Droid…and that’s actually better for some reason. Maybe because the graphics, though lush, are still almost 15 years old and look pretty good on an 800×480 screen….and the controls are like the PS1 controls….which actually seem easier to use. We’ll see.
These little things aren’t really good for 3D games….but a serious *tablet* might be.
Time will tell.

I had an iphone 3gs and I love it, when I try the samsung Galaxy S I realize what a smartphone should be like. The screen is amazing, really fast, multitasking. Now with the flash coming soon, multiple screen to put whatever i want, live wallpapers, etc. I saw the iphone 4, is pretty but the screen is not even close to the galaxy, the speed of the galaxy is much faster.
That was the only reason why I change ATT to Tmobile.

Sweet! Having fiddled with Flash a lot, I can’t wait to be able to write apps for my Droid Incredible. This is gonna be fun!

Flash will rock. Just yesterday i had to use my frikking desktop computer for a flash based eLearning session. Would have been the killer on a 10 inch Android Tablet!
And one thing for the sombrero kid: Investigate before trolling. Flash is not implemented in java and run atop the dalvik VM. It is coded using the ndk, so it is native C. Running directly on the linux base.
And btw: The software stack model (x on top of y on top of z …) is used in nearly every modern Program. Turned out pretty well so i dont see your problem.
