Can this be for real? TheDude has been posting photos on Twitter of his shenanigans with the Augen GenTouch 78 7″ Android Tablet from KMart. Judging by the photos, he’s actually booting CM6 on this $150 device.
Can TeamDouche be stopped? Is CM6 going to be installed on every Android device know to man? According the last post from TheDude, he says “Ps I don’t really have cm6 on the Augen78…. yet” but from the screen shots below, we can clearly see the CM6 boot animation and CM6 widgets. Unless that’s all he’s done so far.
I’ve tried to contact TheDude, but haven’t had a reply yet. Once I do, I’ll find all the nitty gritty details and keep you up to date. For now, here are a few of the photos TheDude posted on Twitter.

Did you get one of these devices? How is it? I’ve been searching and so far haven’t found one.

I picked up and am not happy with it at all. My initial review is here.

They released a patch last night but the install doesn’t work and of course there is no support on the weekend.

omg.
one of the reason i bought an archos 7 last month was that i could hack the android market on to it. there haven’t really been anything i miss from android 2.X except flash.
The $30 restocking fee from amazon looks mightly good right about now.

I purchased on and had the same issues with speaker sounding like it was blown. Strangley enough, certain apps (video from email attachment and then later youtube audio worked). I cannot rotate screen from portrait to landscape… no option for orientation in the setting menu like manual describes and my Droid has – strange. Screen/Keyboard is slow to respond and has to be pushed harder than expected, I keep selecting icons when I am trying to scroll.
Will hold and see for a few weeks as K Mart allows returns up to 60 days here.

Archos 7 HT already has a hacked market on it

I called 3 of my closest Kmarts, and all stated that they had no idea or ETA of when they would arrive in their stores.
I should just spend $100 more and buy a $249 10″ Window7 laptop at Costco to save the frustration of what this Android Tablet won’t do with the hardware specs that it contains.
Too bad that a manf doesn’t just bite the bullet and make a tablet or mobile with a VERY fast processor (2ghz+), a LOT of ram (2gb), and a capacitive touch-screen. Then we’ll know that it will be able to handle future updates.

Idunno, I’m having a lot of fun with this tablet. For $150 I cannot complain to much. I flashed The clockwork recovery In it, Dude The latest rom flash moded by Linckraker And a bunch to other goodies, And I’m set! Leaving this comment actually with my GT78 now!
if this had CM6 that would be sooo friggin awsome!
I’ve owned this for… about 3 hours now and it’s going back in the morning. Overall, I loved it and wanted to keep it, but one issue kept this from being usable. That issue is the extraordinary problem in SCROLLING! If you have a webpage that goes beyond the bottom of the screen (and what webpage doesnt?) there isn’t an easy way to scroll. In fact, experience, their isn’t even a HARD way. In theory you swipe a nail down the screen (I guess… it’s not addressed in the slim manual) but only once in dozens of tries did I even get it to fleetingly respond. And even then it just jiggled a bit. I’m baffled that anyone allowed this out of the factory without this ability. Heck, I wasn’t even able to configure Email because the last options that had to be filled in were below the bottom of the display. Well, I assume they were down there. I never actually got to see them. Overall I’m massively disappointed. Primarily because it had managed to wildly exceed my expectations up until then.
you just it next on key board and it scolls down!!!!
Hack again?!
