For all you anxious HTC EVO 4G users patiently waiting for the official 2.2 update to arrive on your phone, you can stop waiting and start updating.
The update has been released and you two options to chose from:
On your phone you can go to Menu –> Settings –> System Updates –> HTC software update
alternatively….
you can download it from HTC or HERE, and flash it to your phone via recovery in the update.zip format. If you need help manually performing the upgrade, you can follow the guide we wrote for you in the HTC Sprint EVO forum.

Downloading it right now! It’s at 70 percent. We’ll see how much of a difference it makes for me.

Wow, this update truly sucks. Maybe I have something else going on, but it is very unresponsive and nothing is smooth. Super frustrating! Feels like I’m running froyo on my g1 again. Grrr. Damn, took me 5 min to this, cause I have to press half the keys 2 or 3 times. Sucky.
I know this might not sound pleasing to you, however maybe going into recovery and doing a wipe would clean up your sluggishness. Let me know if you try it and it works.

Loving the froyo release. a few things I’ve noticed after having it overnight: the new sms features, extended battery life, SPEED, new market feature for auto updates, share app tool, apps to sd support is minimal at this point, having flash rocks, and ADW will default as my launcher now without having to default it a million times a day. I’ll give froyo sense a runover later today. I crave Gingerbread now!

I stand corrected. After letting it sit overnight, it seems to be working much, much better. Thx.

I love the update. Jane been using it for two days now. The only problem is my battery dies so much faster… Is there a setting or app to help with that?
