The myTouch Slide will be receiving a software update starting tomorrow August 4th and will continue until August 19th. The update will be specifically for maintenance and will not be the Android 2.2 update, sorry folks! The software update will be sent OTA and will bring the usual bug fixes aimed at battery life and software upgrades. There is no official time frame given on when to expect the Froyo update, but seeing how HTC devices are starting to receive theirs, the myTouch Slide could be seeing it soon after this maintenance update.
“Beginning August 4, T-Mobile will send an over-the-air (OTA) update to myTouch 3G Slide customers, which will provide a number of benefits, including increased battery performance and enhancements to software features such as Faves Gallery and Genius Button. The update will be sent to customers in staggered waves beginning August 4 and we anticipate all customers will receive it by August 19.”

Battery life improvement? thats a real plus if it’s significant. I like the battery life in my slide as is but I can always use more and more of course.

I used to have a Behold 2 and remember when i got the maintenance update for that phone, seemed like it was just an update to add games to my phone without asking me if i wanted them, i think ill wait and see what other people experience first before i update, i don’t trust T-mobile and like my Slide just the way it is now.

Sorry Brian, unless it’s a direct HTC update there is no way to FORCE this OTA, its a mainaenance update so we just gotta wait. I wonder how TMO decides how to send out OTA’s….do they go by order of phone purchase or customer loyaity??? Anyone know?

They send them out by Zip Codes. I asked a T-Mobile rep over the phone yesterday. Don’t know the actual order they’re going in though. I’m in MA and haven’t received the update yet.

Just stopping in to say I received the update earlier today. Right off the bat the Sync icon disappeared and didn’t come back, which is nice. I did send a picture message over Wi-Fi successfully, but as far as the Genius Button and the Faves Gallery, I don’t really use them so as far as the others go, great job T-Mobile. Now let’s see that Froyo rollout!

for some reason I am not able to send a picture messages on my new my touch slide?????
generic network failure I have wifi is turned off
my screen keep flickering on and off! very aggravating!
When I am in a crowd or a concert or something along those lines, my phone turns into a night bright. Won’t dial out, get voicemail, receive calls, send or get text messages, web, nothing!
i am not getting application updates on my phone like I used to. The update icon does not show up at all and the sync icon will not stay active on home screen.
I can’t get adobe flash to work
