In late July, we reported on how to root and unroot Your Motorla Droid X with one click using Windows. Yesterday, developer Unstable Apps released a version of the application to make it easier to root your Droid directly from your device instead of using a Windows application.

Easy Root lets you root your phone with the click of a single button. Run all the great apps that require root without having to go through the difficult process normally associated with rooting your phone!
It currently works only for Android 2.1 and has been tested on the Motorola Droid and Droid X. There have been unconfirmed reports of the app working on the Droid Incredible too.
Easy Root is available for $0.99 from the Android Market. Though it does not have an unroot option, this might be an alternative for those who don’t use Windows. So far there have been over 500 downloads since it was released about a day ago. Scan or click the QRCode below to check it out for yourself.

does anyone remember the “1 click root” app for the htc Dream/g1/mytouch/magic. Because i remember it got pulled for using an exploit. so id be curious to see how this app works.
Yes, but I believe the hole in that exploit was closed in Android kernels released from August 2009 and later. Unless this is a relatively new exploit (hope not) then we hope it remains in the market. Get your copy while supplies last!

Hi, your saying this works on the droid? Increase your list on what it works on! I would assume it’ll work on the Nexus One since the N1 roolz!?
Also what happens to all the stuff on your phone apps/images/sd card, does it back it all up and restore it?
Finally, since it works on 2.1 do we assume it works on 2.1 and above aka 2.2?
cheers
Yes, user reports show it works on the Droid. I don’t own a Droid so I have not had a chance to test it out.
All apps, settings and data still remain. But it’s always a safe practice to backup your sdcard.
I have also heard reports that did not work on the Spring HTC Hero and MyTouch Slide. No word on the Nexus one yet.
One user also reported that it rooted his Samsung Moment but he has not successfully able to run any “root-only” apps.
