With so much work in progress trying to port Android onto x86 devices, it looks like its starting to pay off. Some developers have successfully ported Anroid 2.2 (Froyo) to the Viliv S5 Tablet. The $600 device, which normally runs Windows XP, is seen running Froyo in the video below:
According to Androidguys, the biggest challenge in porting Android over to this tablet involved getting the proprietary Intel drivers for the chipset inside the unit. We are yet to see a full working port.
The specifications for the Viliv S5 include:

With low price Android based tablets coming to the market, I am personally not sure why I would particularly want to run Android on such an expensive device. The good news is that owners of this device can eventually switch over to Android. It also shows that the Android OS take over is eminent – soon Android devices will be everywhere!
