It looks like the T-Mobile G2 is making its way around, this time showing up with T-Mobile branding. This full-QWERTY beast seems to have gotten a makeover with the colors scheme (Nexus/Desire-like?) and still looks beautiful. What we can gather so far is, this device is the U.S. version of the HTC Vision or HTC Desire Z from the description we learned yesterday. The T-Mobile G2 is going to be T-Mobile’s first HSPA+ device and is rumored to feature a 3.7″ display, 5 MP camera and the stock Android UI. September just can’t come soon enough.

*UPDATE*
More images have been added providing a better look at the device with less blurrycam! Enjoy!

Is “G2″ a worthy title?

oooooooooooooo so damn sexy

I want processor and RAM specs!!!! LOL
I wish they would just stop with the teasing already and release the specs IF it will be available for sale (or preorder) in 20 days. Looks beautiful, though.
Wow… i expected something a bit better from T-Mobile’s first HSPA+ device. The phone looks bulky for a 3.7 inch screen. there is so much wasted space in the bottom… The keyboard also seems to be a step down from the G1.

Well G1, it’s been swell but your services are best suited elsewhere. My tween kid for example

Looks nice but what is really a turn off is the freakin keypad, virtual keypad is better for slimmer phone I will stay with my N1 for sure. I dnt want 2 see specs anymore after looking slide $%&.
That is why there is a variety of devices. some with full keyboards for those of us who want them (the reason i didnt get a vibrant) and those without the keyboards for those of you with nimble enough fingers to work the screen.

what makes it a G2…a keyboard? I don’t see how this device has any resemblance to the original G1. If anything the original Mytouch was more similar. If they wanted to keep with the G1 and put out a true successor they would have kept the sliding mechanism similar to what the original was, along with a full 5 row keyboard with dedicated number buttons.

Dear God tell me it has an actual headphone jack! Bought my G1 when it first came out(before pandora even had an app!) and that has been my biggest turnoff. Im currently running 2.2 happily, but will def. buy this baby when it drops! Whats with all the unused space at the bottom though? Is that a track pad or something in the middle? Thought about buying the samsung galaxy, but it was wayy too iphony for me. Plus I knew HTC would have something soon. Stoked!

this is similar to the g1 because of the only thing that sets the g1 apart from other androids today … the hinge … the g1 had a crazy hinge und this one seems to top it for being … strange … definitely looking forward to buy this thing.

Plz update engadget says that the new photoo’s and old are not correct and the phone is a slide as the G2 will not have a tilt screen or something anyway head over and have a look lol
There is no need to update this post, we never reported that the screen tilts. It is clear that the image shows the slide mechanism that resembles the original G1. Engadget got it wrong.

I want a keypad for gaming but at the same time I don’t use it for anything else and I don’t play games that often.oh well will see what happens.

ummm……. where is the face camera?
The keyboard….lost a row…why….why T-Mobile…this…this was all I wanted…4g phone got it….plenty of space…why….why?
how u do that
Almost qwerty keyboard could have been a full 5 row and the cheesy MyTouch slide version. If it had the same keyboard as the G1 then it would be close but again speed counts and function to perform as good as or better than the DroidX or Evo
you guys keep on bitchin dont you? lol this phone looks hot compared to the ol g1…. stop your bitchin
If the specs match up and it has a front facing camera then I’m probably sold, if not I’m waiting for a dual core qwerty with a ffc, that’s not asking too much…
is it just me, or does this NOT look like the silhouette on the Tmobile G2 site. There is no weird button in the left side of the device, and the silhouette is much thinner than the picture here. I dunno I might be looking into things, but i do hope these websites got it right….Or tmo might have just pulled a fast one on the gadget press!

check forum.xda-developers.com in the Samsung Galaxy Development section for instructions on rooting cause I believe that’s the only way to do it. They have One-Click Root for the galaxy s phones so its by no means difficult.
na I said engadget said no tilting screen lol this is what they said:
Update: We hate to be the bearer of bad news, but we’ve just been told that the G2 doesn’t have a tilting screen, despite what you see up there — it’s just the inner workings of the slide being pulled up. Our hearts have been ripped from our chests on this one, rest assured.
Yeah must have it wrong lol
good thing i didn’t the mytouch slide
They did get it wrong…

The timing couldn’t be better! I’ve been happy with my G1 until recently when I discovered the latest ROM/OS, Cyanogen, is finally to big to run on the G1; it’s been very painful watching it fail the last two weeks; I was wondering what to replace old Bessy with and now have found the answer.
The latest Cyanogen ROM is still an RC. I’m running it on my G1. Still glitchy, but that’s to be expected with an RC. I’m sure it’ll get fixed soon.
At first I was excited, but the more I read the comments the more I get pissed..if this is REALLY the final phone…I can’t say I want it.
I hope all of these leaks are faked or this becomes some huge messup or something… if the EPIC 4G was rooted could it use TMobile’s cards?
