Qualcomm’s 1.5GHz Dual-Core Snapdragon Devices Planned for End of 2011

We hate to bring you bad news, but if you were expecting a 1.5GHz Snapdragon processor to ship with devices in the near future, you might want to sit down before reading this. Qualcomm announced today that they are still planning on shipping the QSD8672 1.5GHz dual-core chip in Q4 of this year, but that devices with the chip will not ship until the end of 2011.

Now for the brighter side of the story. While Qualcomm’s 1.5GHz dual-core chipset devices will be landing late next year, devices with the lesser 1.2GHz dual-core MSM8x60 chip should be hitting the shelves in early 2011. I guess we’ll just have to see what Qualcomm’s competitors plan on bringing to the table.
