Pre-Order Elocity A7 Tablet on Amazon, Ships with Froyo and Tegra 2

Android Tablets are everywhere these days! It’s just getting harder to decide which Android tablet to buy.

This tablet, eLocity A7, might be worthy of a mention – the device  has some interesting specs. The 7-inch tablet, which is now available for pre-order via Amazon, is powered by a 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra T-20 processor and has 512MB of RAM. The device sports a 4GB of built-in storage space and a microSDHC card slot. It also has an integrated USB 2.0 port and an HDMI output that is said to allow 1080p video playback. A 1.3-megapixel camera, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth also come standard.

The eLocity A7 is now available for pre-order at Amazon for $370, and while a release date hasn’t been mentioned it is believed that shipments might go out as early as November 1st.

What seems be lacking on this unit and on many Android tablets is the Android Market and a full suite of Google apps. Despite the the lack of Google apps, the Tegra 2 processor, Android 2.2, HDMI capabilities and the price tag make this device a candidate on my watch list.

why would it lack such things as Google app, and the market? i thought that it just come on the OS. with out its just a media player

    • Correct me if I’m wrong but thus far Google hasn’t “approved” a version of Android for tablets. There are a few tablets out there running 2.2 that are supposedly “approved” in some way to have the market but no one seems to know if this is legit or if these companies just put it on there despite what Google wants. The large majority of Android tablets thus far regardless of Android version do not support the official marketplace.

There are alternate market places to get applications from as well as the ability to side load apps. SlideME, from what I understand is some what popular and they allow their market app any where you can side load it. Archos also provides their own version of a market but on their own tablets. So not all is lost if you don’t have the official market place.

It supports GetJar right out of the box. Which kinda compensates for Android market
