The Samsung Galaxy S devices have been a big success overseas and with their variants in the US, but the question on everyone’s mind is when their device will be receiving Android 2.2? A recent rumor suggested the update to start hitting devices around September 23rd coming from Samsung’s Finland branch has been hovering around the community and today we are learning that Samsung Mobile Spain has given us a little more details on when the update might hit on their Facebook page.
Using Google Translate the above message states:
Many of us are wondering about the date of publication of the Update for Galaxy S. Froy
Finally it will be in late October through Samsung Kies.
It’s hasn’t been determined yet if this is directed to Spain specific Galaxy S phones, but another idea when Galaxy S devices could be seeing Android 2.2. September 23rd is Thursday and until it’s behind us, we can’t really rule that time frame out, although Samsung Mobile Spain carries a little more weight than the previous Finland branch repair department.
The September 23rd time frame could be the original plans for the update, but as bugs and engineer vacations come along, they could have pushed it back to a late October release.

Then Oct. turns into November, then December and finally into next year. Stop playing with us Samsung…
I’m really upset that Samsung is going to be updating their android platform to 2.2. I’m getting tired of having to have the latest updates all the time. I really wish they would take a step back and introduce at least Cupcake for the Galaxy S, if not Android 1.0 or 1.1. It would be nice to go back to the early days. I want it to be 2008 again.
No Froyo until 2012 plz!
Yeah, 2.2 in October….
Just when Google will be releasing 3.0.
Samsung sucks.
I know what you mean don’t compare the behold with the galaxy lol
Galaxy is the best
I guess I have one lol
I don’t think it’s coming in September. This weekend there will be an OTA update fixing a few issues. If Froyo was being pushed out a week later, why have the OTA this week?
They’d do it that way too, you watch.
[...] yesterday we reported that Samsung Mobile Spain pegged October for a Froyo release, T-Mobile UK has said that their Galaxy S will see Android 2.2 by the end of [...]
I’m so glad that Samsung is going to be updating their android platform to 2.2. I’m getting tired of having to have the latest updates all the time.
Unfortunately for handsets running other’than ‘Naked’ Android, there are certain obstacles to overcome.
Have Faith… It’ll be here soon enough.
