First up in the Android BBQ sessions is the modders’ round table talk moderated by AndroidSPIN’s own Simon Walker. Can’t be here? Follow us on the live blog!
12:02PM I haven’t even been in Austin for an hour and I’m already diving into things, the discussion has been underway for about 10 minutes already.
12:04PM A guy from the audience thanks all the devs for their hard work.
12:05PM A question about whether tablets will see any dev work; the short answer is the lack of quality hardware doesn’t make it worth it right now.
12:07PM It’s a music medley from all the people that haven’t put their phones on silent.
12:12PM ”Will we see an updated version of Stericson’s lockscreen?” The answer, we can hope, but time is not readily available.
12:15PM The guys mention that a lot of new features often start with a random suggestion.
12:20PM Another question, does anyone work with any other mobile OS? That generated a lot of laughter.
12:27PM CM6 is on phones in 91 countries and 334 carriers.
12:36PM Question: if the number of people that want to root their devices is tiny in the grand scheme of things, why are carriers so against it? Answer: profit and liability.
12:40PM “We’re pretty sure you earn street cred by suing Google.”
12:43PM Each member of the table is talking about their personal challenges working with Android. Inexperience in certain areas seems to be a common theme?
12:47PM “How do you pace yourselves?” We don’t sleep. But seriously, we make time for something we love.
12:51PM And we’re done!

Waiting for the video, or at least a full transcription would be interesting…
