Google posted a progress update on its Google TV service after almost five months of silence since its introduction at Google I/O.

According to the post, Google plans to:

“open up the living room and enable new innovation from content creators, programmers, developers and advertisers. By bringing Google Chrome and access to the entire Internet, you can easily navigate to thousands of websites to watch your favorite web videos, play Flash games, view photos, read movie reviews or chat with friends—all on the big screen.”

The report also announced several Google TV content partners which include:

• Turner Broadcasting i.e. TBS, TNT, CNN, Cartoon Network and Adult Swim (available anytime through Google TV).
• NBC - CNBC Real-Time app to track stocks and news feeds while watching CNBC directly on the TV screen.
• HBO –  HBO GO app that will allow subscribers to access HBO content on-demand via Google TV.
• NBA’s NBA Game Time app that lets you follow game scores in real-time and catch up on the latest highlights from your favorite team in HD.

In addition to this, Google also partnered with Netflix and Amazon Video On Demand for to bring apps that deliver on-demand movie and TV titles as part of this service.

Other apps that will be making an appearance on Google TV include:

• The New York Times
• USA Today
• VEVO
• Pandora
• Napster
• Twitter
• blip.tv
• YouTube Leanback

Also announced was the launch of a new website that provides more information about the apps and all of the other great features of Google TV.
