While a few T-Mobile G2 handsets received an OTA update bringing features like Wi-Fi calling, tethering and a new radio, T-Mobile has issued the following statement, which leads us to believe that an update to everyone will probably come in a couple of weeks.
Wi-Fi Calling and tethering/Wi-Fi sharing are not currently supported on the T-Mobile G2. T-Mobile knows these features are important to consumers and we’re working to deliver them to G2 users in the future. We have nothing further to announce at this time.
As some of us have already received the apk for Wi-Fi calling that was pulled from an updated G2, we know that this update does exist. But by reading the statement, T-Mobile acts as if there wasn’t an update at all, which leads us to believe that if they don’t hear any complaints they’ll start rolling this bad boy out, but first they must at least acknowledge an update.

Stuck on Enabling… on my G2 as well. Watch out this is a battery drainer as well, watching the ADB logs shows its continually trying to connect to tmobile’s server and getting denied, even when you have wifi turned off.

Stuck on enabling on my Vibrant. Didn’t think it would work, but it was worth a try.

I was just about to go to bed I looked at my phone there was an Icon when I zoomed in the message says T mobile update for WIFI calling available so I took the update because I read that this update includes Wii Hotspot after the update was complete I seen the WIFI hot spot in the phones menu on my G2 I turned it on try connecting my desktop & it worked. In the past I have tried to download so many apps that should make WIFI hotspot work but they never gave me the internet it showed up it was visible to other devices but the internet did not work. Now with the update from Tmobile the WIFi hotspot works on my phone. I also read that this update was no longer availible since November 2010 but I got my update 4:30am est May 21, 2011.
