Samsung UK: Froyo Coming Early November To Galaxy S

We hate to bring bad news as many of you Galaxy S users have been patiently awaiting the arrival of Android 2.2 on your Galaxy S phone, but Samsung UK’s official Twitter account has stated that the Froyo update will be coming early November.

As you can see in the screen grab above of the message, they expect all operator versions of the Galaxy S in the UK to have received the update by the end of November. While this message applies to the UK Galaxy S owners, this doesn’t look to good for us across the pond rocking the US variants. We’ll just have to see how this all pans out.

We figured that since the Galaxy S line of devices have been arguably the most hyped up of 2010, they would have had a better plan as they launched after Android 2.2 had already been released. How do you all feel about waiting?

*Update* Official press release is below.

For me samsung vibrant it’s an old fashion phone, i have one and i feel like an amish. No 2.2(Froyo) = no flash / no air.

I’m under a t-mobile contract, for that reason i can’t change my amish phone. The phone is amazing but the software sucks.

Samsung Do somethings you are losing clients. And cyanogen Help please, give a hand to that guys.

i will say am dispointed, its us that buys the phone which turns to profit for them and i don’t think samsung understands what set android apart from the i-phone(apple) which is YOU DON’T FORGET ABOUT YOUR FIRST CLIENTS, and i feel like samsung is doing that they just want to put the phones out and move on to the next 1 just like i phone did to i phone people when they released iphone2 then i phone 3g &s and now i phone 4. android is not about that they bet get it straight or the just lost another customer

Frankly I’m not surprised and still don’t have my hopes up for a before the end of the year release in the US. They said the firmware maintenance update would be released by September and that didn’t happen.

i believe samsung was waiting for the UK to drop first because they had a lot of problems developing 2.2 for US Units. I think they will take the UK one as help to develop a US 2.2. But get real guys you know soon as they give us 2.2, yall gone complain about 3.0, so maybe their waiting for 3.0 to drop so we can go from 2.1 to 3.0.

Think about it from a business stand point, instead of being a hungry customer, when you sign up for a plan yout not guarenteed an update when you want it, your guarenteed a phone that works.

Use the Lag fixes and your good to go, honestly no 2.2 needed at this point.

Flash is needed on this phone bad! I want to be able to view content on this phone without always needing to run to my laptop! I hope we get froyo by late December at the latest!
And no! I wont complain that I need 3.0 right away! 2.1 to 2.2 is kind of a big jump like 1.5 to 1.6…I don’t know how much more you’ll gain from 2.2 to 3.0!
