It looks like T-Mobile will soon be jumping on the charging for mobile hotspot and tethering bandwagon. According to BGR’s sources, T-Mobile will be rolling out a tethering plan in conjunction with the T-Mobile myTouch HD device launch on November 3rd. The Tethering and mobile hotspot feature will run participating parties $14.99/mo. and will be available to postpaid and Flexpay customers as well.

To be eligible for the tethering and mobile hotspot feature, customers must have a 3G/HSPA+ capableĀ handsetĀ in addition to an unlimited web plan of $19.95 or higher. The tethering plan will also impact your 5GB data cap, so keep that in mind. How do you all feel about the $14.99/mo. price-tag for this feature?

  1. I don’t get it! Why would I pay 15 bucks a month for the privilege of doing something I can do for free via tethering apps. The fact that it still goes against your 5GB cap is simultaneously sad and laughable!

I can do this on my N1

  3. this is the one and only reason why the g2 has the anti-root chip. Wifi tether for root users = $0 per month vs. this b.s. at $15 a month.

yeah,if it still goes towards your 5gb cap, then there is no reason to use this. 5gb=5gb no matter what device you use it on. Rooted N1 here. HD2 before that, rooted G1 before that,iPhone 3g before that,iPhone 2g before that, all on t-mobile,I used wifi tethering on all of them.
