According to an anonymous tipster who sent in some info to the TalkAndroid show tonight, the announcement from Samsung on November 8th in NYC will be Google’s next hardware release under the Nexus umbrella, The Nexus 2. The device is rumored to be the first commercially available device running Android 2.3 A.K.A Gingerbread.
If this rumor is true, this could be one hell of a device. The Galaxy S is still one of the best all around phones you get right now and if they listened to the feedback from the Android community, this may be the next baseline device to beat.
Anyone else heard anything more about this device?

One source has already informed me that this may not be the Nexus 2 but just the next major release from Samsung. I can’t confirm either way, but whatever it is, it sounds pretty exciting.
2.3!!!! dam i am falling behind so fast. In the next 4 months will it be honeycomb then ice cream?! slow down, too many updates and i am really starting to see the fragmentation. it’s like if I do not root my phone, I won’t see anything past 2.1. Next time I buy a phone it will be stock android. NO more over lays or skins (HTC Sense or Espresso). They need to just put it all into one good update and make it for everyone.
Here is what RadioAndroid said from their tipster “The device will be the Nexus S
It will be branded as a Google experience device featuring Android 2.3
It will have the same 4″ SAMOLED screen seen on the Galaxy S devices
It will feature the same Hummingbird processor from the Galaxy S handsets
It will be easily rootable like the Nexus One was
It will be at least GSM, unknown about carrier or CDMA
It will have no hard buttons on the face, similar to a Vibrant ”
Well with Team Whiskey over at XDA Overclocking the Humingbird processor to 1600 MHZ and getting amazing benchmarks. A Samsung Phone without the TouchShiz crap and stock Android should be great. As long as they dont try to replicate the Iphone 3g style like the vibrant I will be stoked. Add a front facing camera, dual led flash and I will be in line at Midnight to pick up the device.
samsung nexus two huh! well if they pay as much attention to this as they vibrant, with updates and fixes and all then good luck! i’m pretty sure that i’ll never buy a samsung phone again!
samsung currently sucks because they’re behind the software with touch wiz, if samsung makes the n2, it’ll be stock so google will have more control of the updates while samsung focuses on the hardware, 2cameras, more internal memory, faster processor, better quality screens and cameras, bring on the nexus two !!!!
We’re in the same boat. Never again will I buy another Samsung phone. I don’t care what’s in it and I don’t care if it’s a Nexus 2, 3 or 4. Samsung had their chance with the Vibrant and they blew it. Back to HTC for me.
SAMSUNG NOT GOING TO MAKE THE NEXUS ONE 2 :A report today suggests that a second Google phone is not only real, but is due out by the end of the year. If true, this device would be the follow-up to the very popular but now developer-only (in the U.S.) Nexus One.
The report says that Google has made a deal with Carphone Warehouse to sell the phones overseas. Google is looking to avoid direct selling from carriers this time around and is looking for a partner that is already in the business of selling unlocked phones.
The story also states that this phone will run the next iteration of Android, Gingerbread, which could have been expected. This is very interesting news and it definitely has us excited at the possibility of another Google phone. Hopefully U.S. customers will be able to buy the phone easily through Best Buy, since it is a subsidiary of Carphone Warehouse. We’ll keep you updated.

Typical – after owning every generation of iPhone from launch, I finally jump ship, having ordered an HTC Desire HD (running Froyo/ 2.2) and already its obsolete!
no, it’s not. The Desire HD is still a very good phone. Too many people misunderstand. Android 2.2 is THE gamechanger for Android handsets because it provides the performance increases that allow Android to seriously compete with the iPhone in terms of snappiness and smooth navigation. With that being said, after my great experiences with the N1 and bad experiences with the Vibrant, if Samsung is making a Nexus 2 phone then that’s a phone I’ll never buy. I’ll wait for HTC to make a Android 2.3 phone and buy that instead.
I wouldn’t say “Android 2.2 is THE gamechanger”. Maybe A GAME CHANGER. I’m a G1 owner, waiting for an HTC phone worth its while to upgrade. I think the Iphone and its platform are very solid, and definitely the device and platform to beat. How come with so many Android devices from different companies and still none beats the Iphone? I don’t understand this.
ok, well, either you have incredibly high standards, you’re stuck on Tmob and don’t care for the g2 , the Vibrant or you just haven’t tried HTC’s latest phones for whatever reason. The fact that you’re using a G1 in 2010 speaks for itself. It’s like using a 1st generation iPhone in 2010 and complaining that the iPhone 4 isn’t good enough for you. Ridiculous. Android surpassed iPhone long ago in some aspects but not in others. Customization, multitasking, superior notification system come to mind. In addition to support for apps and features that Apple still won’t support including Flash 10, removable batteries and expandable storage. iPhone still runs smoother than the best Android phones running 2.2 but where that gap was huge prior to Android 2.2, now it’s a minor difference at best which is debatable once iPhone multitasking comes into play. Even the iPhone 4′s Retina display isn’t that impressive when compared to the Super AMOLED screens on the Galaxy S series of phones and the new LCD screens for the G2. As far as not beating the iPhone, well you’re entitled to that opinion. I’d never agree with it for the simple fact that basic functions that have been available since the WinMo and Palm days of glory (folders, multitasking, custom wallpapers) Apple JUST added to the iPhone in 2010 as if it were some great revelation even though it still doesn’t support other basic functions. Personally, I still believe the EVO, the Incredible, the G2 and once 2.2 arrives for them, the full line of Galaxy S phones will be better than the iPhone overall.

Nov 8th is the Galaxy S2 announcement, Hypothetical Samsung may rebadge it to the N2 and that could be what the tipster is saying.
I have NO interest UNLESS it has a keyboard.

they better et froyo to the fucking galaxy phones. this is the biggest crock of froyo i have ever heard, you think they can put out something with gingerbread but cant even produce froyo? yeah right
all of the other sources say its just going to be the shitty samsung continuim. i would say that they are closer, if the galaxy S phones would ever just get froyo they would be unstoppable. and some good games to use some of the power that the crazy powerful GPU has. As a Galaxy S owner i will be pissed if they release something that has Gingerbread and still haven’t updated their money maker(Galaxy S line) to freaking Froyo. that woud cause a whole lot of backlash that they wouldn’t want. not to mention all the negative publicity they would get.
Guess you never had an HTC Hero – took until July this year to get Android 2.x from 1.5, dispite HTC producing the Nexus 2.x
… producing the Nexus with 2.x

blogies.in : samsung going to rock
if its a google experience phone im pretty sure it will have the stock android UI and samsung will not have anything to do with upgrades, it will all be controlled by google just like they do the nexus one
ell if they pay as much attention to this as they vibrant, with updates and fixes and all then good luck! i’m pretty sure that i’ll never buy a samsung phone again!
I have high hopes that they are going to treat this phone differently than previous phones.
I love anything Samsung and android gadgets
