Zuckerberg Says Developer Taken by Google

Do you think the Facebook app for Android was lacking? Well so did Mark Zuckerberg. He says that in the beginning stages of development, the Android developer that was hired to make this extraordinary app was taken by Google. Zuckerberg’s response “yeah that was obnoxious.”

According to previous reports, it was said that Google was helping Facebook develop their app, but contrary to this report they did them a disservice by taking the developer who was working it. They have since worked out measures to use the code that was developed up to the point of the unfortunate event. The problem was the developer couldn’t be used to finish the work that was started. They have since hired a different developer, who has taken the app to another level.

What do you think, did the app get better, or is it still lacking?

It’s still lacking. The iPhone app is much much better.

I think that it’s finally a polished app, especially since notifications bring you into the app instead of to the mobile site. It still has a ways to go before it’s on par with iPhone version. Once it’s gets photo tagging and the like, I think it’ll be great.

they hired ONE person… really facebook.

Definitely still lacking. You’re still better off going through the regular site on your phone than using the app. There’s still functionality lacking in the app that you could do easier on the site.

  5. I’ve noticed a significant speed change. Being a developer, I know how difficult it can be to acclimate to code that you didn’t write. I’m expecting that future versions will contain more expanded functionality, as long as Mark can keep hold of this one.

All they need is to incorporate fbook chat in this app and it will be golden

  7. still very lacking. The update brought slower load speeds and still no chat. Sad…

Definately lacking. I’m really pissed off each time the application wants to open any content in web browser. Come on, I use the dedicated app to don’t have to use the browser!
