Europe always gets cooler stuff then we do. I might just have to move. Seriously though, Binatone has just released their Android home phone, called the IDECT iHome phone. Although this device is a home phone, there is a lot of Android built in. The iHome comes loaded with stock Android, Wifi ability, web browser, internet radio,Youtube, MP3 player, widgets and RSS feeds, and SD card slot. Sounds like an Android phone to me. The base doubles as a docking station with speakers to play music.
This is a home phone too. Which means it has all your basic home phone options like caller ID, call waiting, and a 14 minute digital voice mail box. Being the gadget geek that I am, I would love to have one of these sitting on my desk.
Feel free to check out the full specs at Binatone.
What do you guys think? If this came stateside and was available would you pick one up?

Whats a home phone ?
I am struggling to see the point.
So, it is a DECT cordless phone with Android. But who needs/wants to use Android exclusively in the home? Surely the point is that all of that “computer in your pocket” technology is intended for truly mobile use. That is, outside of the home/office/SOHO and not confined by the reach of the DECT base station.
Or am I really missing something here?
Living in Europe I must admit never seeing an Android home phone.
If you compare this phone to the standard home phones, then you would feel like living 50 years in the future and if the price is right then this will be my next home phone.
There’s definitely a point, IF it can read your google contacts (assuming you’re a google mail user). I HATE having multiple sets of contacts and love it when something removes a set. The thing I love about my Galaxy S mobile (cell to US people) is that I have NO contacts actually on the phone, it simply picks up my google contacts. God I love that. So if my landline (what we call a home phone in the UK) could also simply access my google contacts and I don’t have to worry about adding numbers and keeping them up to date, then that’s great. Not sure if it’s £100 great though! I’ve got about a dozen family and friends who generally call me on the landline instead of my mobile but I do like to keep it going and I do like to see caller ID on people who do call me. If that is reconciled to my online google contacts by wifi then that’s not bad at all. If it can’t do that then it’s rubbish.
That, is it.
